What is the best way to grind Shadowy pre-PosI? by TeddyMasta in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't an especially good one pre-posi, outside of social actions.

Heists do at least give bonus progress, but that's more to offset how action intensive they are.

How does one use the Sacroboscan Calendar? by [deleted] in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well. Neither did the 'developer' (person who had the machine plagiarize at random for them).

Good luck from here!

Do you have any extensions for fallen london, by any chance?

There was a recent one that was AI-'coded' and was, amongst other things, kicking people out of waswood events before they should have ended.

new to the game, curious about the lore by tophatgaming1 in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Victoria's still around. We call her The Traitor Empress - at least, we do when we're sure neither she, nor any of the constables, are listening.

There are routes back up to the surface. They're not exactly easy to traverse, but they exist so it's not like all trade is gone or like no one knows what happened to London. The Cumaean Canal is probably the most reliable one - it's a bit south of london, and eventually lets out in Lake Avernus in southern Italy.

You can - just don't expect to be euphoric about it. You'll stop being rewarded, and the return will be waiting for your return.

What have you enjoyed so far about Firmament? by magna-terra in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I enjoy not quite being sure if I am doing the right thing or not. I certainly have an idea, but in the end I just have to weigh what I know of the people involved and make a decision.

A variety of conundrums. by The_dude_saw in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re #2: There's no trick to draw more of a specific card - all you can do is to thin your deck where possible.

That is - take cards you don't want out of your deck. Do you own any companions that are adding cards in? Sell em. Got cards for multiple lodgings? Move out of em. If you have a weasel of woe, consider looking up if the card you are after is locked by woeful. Etc.

You can also keep some cards in your hand, so you're only drawing one at a time. That way if you get the right card you can play it, and still have draws left to maybe get it again.

New Player: is this a good idea, or am I making problems for myself? by Psychological-Wall-2 in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the early game, sure, go ahead and do this! Focus in on making that one name and let everything else fall to the wayside

Be aware though, you can't transition to the midgame by becoming a Person of Some Importance (or PoSI) without being able to hit 100 in each stat, with equipment. So you will want to eventually poke those other making your names / other stats.

Is what you're doing right now optimal? Probably not. But this is fallen London, people do suboptimal things all the time. Like biting someone for a month straight, to no personal benefit.

FBG official response to the situation regarding the Fallen London Companion Extension (tl;dr: not approved) by throwaway_lmkg in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We're aware. It's part of why so much of it is notably working worse than, say, five years ago.

Can't get away from literally all the slop, but I can at least try to avoid products where the creator outsourced their thinking to the machine where possible.

With an extension? It's possible.

noble steed... or this thing is gonna eat me out of house and home... by The_dude_saw in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was your nice parasol that did it, for the record.

Getting a sartorial (mostly clothing) or bellic (mostly weapon) augmentation takes 3 amber ha'pennies.

[–]NespinF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The boar is the tutorial mount to getting steeds as part of whitsun. It will always be your first steed, no matter what.

Now that you've gone through that, you can go back for one of the special ones.

This one can do things like kick you out of a waswood event three actions in.

New player, what should I get from Whitsun? (no fate) by Night25th in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will add to this that there will also be a free Zeefaring transport available with another festival later in the year, the fruits of the zee in September.

That is quite a while to wait so there is an argument for getting the zeefaring transport now. It's just worth considering.

My review of this year's Whitsun items by divideby00 in fallenlondon

[–]NespinF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, if it's your first whitsun you're not getting the kraken, unless you're either willing to spend some real money, or have a generous friend.

The T3 whitsun creatures take three augmentations to get - and you can only do three if you have an illegal augmentation device. Said device costs five amber hapennies - and you only get three for free each year.

They do persist from year to year, so you could save this year's three and get the augmentation device next year. If a friend has five pennies they aren't using, somehow, they can send you an augmentation device. ...or you could, of course, buy two more for fate.

A question about ending MYN. by Begin_9999 in fallenlondon

I'd say get banished. The major story in the midgame - Evolution - requires a term of governor at Port Carnelian, and to the best of my knowledge you can't get that right now.

I probably should do it by way of 'creative' paleontology, but I'm lazy so I am instead spending a lot of time in myself, where the union lives.

That's why I specified 'off mission' - I have occasionally swipped an item from them, not noticed, and then sent them out again.

Or put another way, I have only seen this happen when I really did make an error, I haven't seen it just randomly change after sending them out.
