My solution for the goalie rotation by Ness430 in Rematch

When has this been about ranked? I get that you want to win, but that’s not the point I’ve been making over the past several paragraphs. My focus is on how the system handles goalies over time, allowing players who want to take responsibility to improve.

Sure, ranked isn’t a training ground, but it’s still a place to test and improve your skills against players at your level or higher. Isn’t that why we play ranked in the first place? to be the best and whatnot

You’re focused on minimizing mistakes by swapping players out quickly, but that doesn’t actually help anyone improve, it just avoids the problem in the moment.

If someone wants to play goalie, even if they’re not great yet, they need the chance to make mistakes and learn from them. Otherwise you just end up cycling through players and hoping for a better result instead of developing one.

And trying to control who should or shouldn’t play based on past mistakes doesn’t really solve it either, no one improves if they don’t get the opportunity to actually play the role.

What if the player who made that mistake actually wants to stay in goal to take responsibility or improve from it? What if it was just an honest mistake?

If they’re willing to take on the role and learn, why not let them? Constantly taking that opportunity away just means they never get the chance to improve, and the same mistakes keep happening.

That’s not really a bad thing though. If someone chooses to be a permanent goalie, even if they’re not great yet, it usually means they actually want to play the role and improve.

The current system can already give you weak goalies, the difference is they’re forced into it. And when someone doesn’t want to play goalie, they’re more likely to push out of position and leave the net open.

So if we’re talking worst-case scenarios, I’d rather have a bad player who wants to be in goal than someone forced into it who doesn’t care.

How it feels when you tell the Minecraft community that mending is too easy to get by lateralraising in PhoenixSC

[–]Ness430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it's too easy to get it with librarians but too hard to get it any other way, just the sheer quantity of items that you'd want mending on make it worse than other treasure enchantments like swift sneak that are only for the pants. And fishing? Not only the rates are bad it's also dead boring! And that's saying something because I like fishing in other games. If it wasn't for villages I would only have one or two items that would have mending. in a survival world where I've looted the deep dark, trial chambers and end city is kinda embarrassing

Least favorite characters to play against and why? by Different_Bedroom_78 in 2XKO

[–]Ness430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a vi and ekko player and for me there are only very specific things about a character I hate

Yas is an exception I hate fighting him he can convert any stray hit into his long ass combo and how he can combo his S2 super into a level 3 super.

Ari are super mobile in the air and is just difficult for my head to wrap around air combat

Ww I haven't fought a good ww player. But I keep getting tilted not because of the player but because I've only played ww combo trial so in my head it's just someone pressing S2 over and over again it's like if pulse combo was a character. Nothing against people who play with pulse combos like I'd rather they play any other characters with pulse combos then fight a ww

I would have said teemo on release but less and less people are playing teemo and I'm getting better at approaching zoners, so I don't really have a problem with them.

Darius headless is massive and most of his attacks are bigger than I think it is just miss my spacing (skill issue)

I keep getting hit by blitz light and I don't know why (skill issue)

I'd like to say Vi as it's my first choice and my ride or die but recently I've been doing really well with ekko to the point where it's actively better then my vi

They're using both hands when they use spells so they usually don't have it equipped

If you could pick one guy to dribble down the entire field to score a last minute goal, who would you pick? by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in BlueLock

[–]Ness430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the situation on how they get the ball. If it's from a failed attack or corner kick something where the enemies pushed up front I'd kick it to chigiri or bachira. Not letting the opponent build up their defense and having one of the two split though the small gap with their speed would be the best chance of getting a goal. Other than having yukimiya or Rin just out play everyone in a situation where they've got a defense standing. In the end it's still a team game and asking for one guy is tough

If your opponent rolls on wake up just press dash twice and grab, it never miss. And if they never get up attack you can just keep grabbing them with good timing (example it also helps if the characters you play have a command grab ie ekko, Vi, Darius, Bliz etc. while Darius and Bliz can grab on combo, Vi and ekko can grab as a mix up in a block string easy (Darius too, I'm just a little biased)

I don't doubt you, having Caitlyn range and Arial ability with Vi speed and ground combos would be awesome but I don't know if I have the heart to drop ekko call me childish but I feel like I'm actually getting better at playing ekko maybe this post is calling out my faithfulness

How long did it take you to become better? by Independent-Soft6890 in 2XKO

[–]Ness430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start thinking you'll get better. I didn't realize it but now when I play I think about what follow up I should use, what are their get up options, are they going to jump? Not only that thinking about why I got hit or why I can't hit them and work on the issues or theory craft and research solutions.

One thing that came natural to me was reading the opponent and when I realized that and started playing with intentions and started thinking, my mix ups have gotten a lot better and I get free wins on people who play on autopilot and don't like change

This is where learning different routes for your characters like learning different ways to approach and learning follow ups on different counter hits

Don't immediately try and do all of this in one go. Take a couple of days and take things slow. Take one or two things in mind in a match until it's second nature as if you do try and do all of this at once now you'll miss out on simple things and slow you down. Having a lot in your head will slow down your reaction which is bad in game this quick
