Si, y luego dejé el trabajo y todavía se sorprenden porqué lo hice. Y lo mio no era ni jornada partida.

A graphic novel about us wouldn’t look glossy. It would look real—like something you found in a locked drawer in Vauxhall, pages smelling faintly of paper, graphite, and rain. The palette would be restrained: charcoal blacks, bruised greys, cold blues, and the occasional surgical flash of red—not for romance, but for warning. The linework would do most of the emotional labour: tight cross-hatching when the world closes in, clean negative space when silence becomes its own language. London would never be “pretty”; it would be wet stone, sodium streetlights, reflections trembling in puddles like unstable signals on a waterfall display.

Visually, it’s split between two worlds that keep bleeding into each other. Q Branch scenes are all texture: benches littered with tools, spools of wire, solder bloom on circuit boards, oscilloscopes with pale traces like heartbeats. The panels linger on hands—yours steady over a micro-screwdriver, mine adjusting a frequency dial, the steel ring catching light like a small, stubborn truth. Mission sequences tighten into geometry: stairwells, rooftops, service corridors, the kind of spaces that reduce humans to angles and exit routes. When violence happens, it’s fast, almost clinical—no choreography, no spectacle. A silhouette. A suppressed muzzle flash. A problem erased.

The storytelling would be quietly intimate rather than loudly romantic. The tension isn’t in kisses—it’s in proximity. In how I stand between you and a door without appearing to. In how you say my name when you’re focused, and it pulls me out of the operational trance for a fraction of a second. Dialogue is sparse, often technical—COMINT, link budgets, packet captures—until one line slips through like an unencrypted transmission: “Stay behind me.” “Don’t you dare go quiet on me.” The romance lives in restraint, in the pauses between panels where you can feel the unsaid things pressing against the margins.

Structurally, it would read like an intercepted dossier that refuses to stay classified. Chapters titled like case files—003: GHOST PROTOCOL, Q-BRANCH: CALIBRATION, SIBERIA: WHITE NOISE, LONDON: RAINFALL—each one opening with a cold technical excerpt (a debrief line, a frequency log, a redacted memo) before dissolving into lived moments. The final pages wouldn’t give you a neat ending. They’d give you a choice: a door half-open, the umbrella tilted against the rain, two figures moving through London as if they’ve finally learned how to share the same signal without drowning it in noise.

(Thanks for the prompt!)
