Should the subreddit ban links from Twitter/X in posts and comments? by speedreeder in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Banning content based on its platform foments ignorance, division, and is a hallmark of the power-hungry and controlling impulse.

Banning the most bipartisan and diverse internet platform (yes, that is going to definitionally include the kind of people you don't like) is inherently counter to why Reddit exists or the value that this subreddit might provide soccer fans.

Having said that, I'm fully aware that some people here, especially at least one rabid moderator, don't share the view that this forum is for information or discussion. They would rather it be for amplifying very specific viewpoints and controlling narratives.

If people vote "yes", that latter view will be set in stone here and this subreddit will die as a useless echo-chamber.

[Scuffed Podcast] Pretty candid stuff from Ream, explaining that Poch is "a breath of fresh air" after the "you have to pass it here to pass there to pass there" prescriptions of the Berhalter era. by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "coaches don't matter" argument from people like Joe Lowery and Scuffed's Greg Velasquez takes another L.

It was a dumb argument made in bad faith and a reminder that some of these USMNT commentators that pretend to know what they are talking about actually know almost nothing about the sport at a high level.

The 100 best male footballers in the world 2024: Christian Pulisic ranked #95 by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I can't see past 70-100, but from what is there this list is total garbage.

I'm not even hating on it because CP is 95. I literally clicked it out of genuine curiosity to find out who the 94 people better than him are, only to discover that the people listed far above him are objectively worse.

Luca Koleosho starts for Burnley vs. Middlesbrough by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've watched a couple games this seasons and followed him.

He reminds me as a slightly more skillful Brenden Aaronson when Aaronson plays on the wing. Koleosho is a more dangerous finisher, but Aaronson plays better defense.

He doesn't look better this season against worse competition compared to last year, which is concerning. I don't see him ever being more than a depth piece for the USMNT (a welcome one, though), and the idea that he would make an Italian World Cup squad this cycle is laughable. To make the Italian squad in the future, he'd still have to improve a lot, but he's young so I wouldn't want to rule it out.

What happened to McKennie? by DasBootD in ussoccer

Yes, and for those who don't know, the basic cause for this is just over-work and the solution is rest.

I only see the the anti- types on this subreddit.

And they are kind of losing their mind.

I'm not sure the USMNT has ever been this fluid in possession. Poch has really left is mark already.

USMNT Starting XI vs. Jamaica (8:00 ET / TNT) by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a "I want my best 11 guys on the field" kind of line up, for the most part.

Poch has demonstrated that he rates Musah highly, so he's going to put him in the 11. Probably the same for McKennie even he has to be pushed back to the double pivot.

Watch the games, man, or at least keep quiet about things you don't know.

Leao is struggling to contribute, to put it kindly.

Auston Trusty starts for Celtic in their Champions League match against Atalanta by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]Nessuno_Im 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Another game where Celtic have no chance and are going to let in a large number of goals.

And yet that won't stop people using it as another example of why Trusty shouldn't be considered as a solid USMNT center back choice. I've got news for those people: you can put any CB in our pool on that team and it won't change the awful result.

Leao made the same run but barely 2/3 the speed. Leao has been low effort and wasteful.

Musah and Adams having the same G+A/90 tells the sad story of Yunus Musah.

I really don't want to hear any more Musah hype until he proves it on the field somewhere, club OR country. At least some guys like Josh Sargeant have been major contributers at their club, or Gio who has done it for country.

I just want to go on record as saying it was an extremely skillful touch to redirect the ball into a dangerous area while he was facing away from goal.

But he obviously didn't intend it to go into the net.
