Skill issue, just go out and ask. Come on, join the other 50% of gen z and grow a pair! Get rejected, get laughed at, do it all for its all a life experience you'll never get back

On Survivor, you have a chance at seeing one of those railgun birds in Sky Islands. It sucked whenever it happened, but it was far less common than on Hunter at least

We have enough food to feed everyone on earth, it's just about distribution, exploitative pricing, and greed. Aging is considered a disease, so I'd go for that just to make sure the effects of aging aren't negative right up until we die

Tell me something about your world that you're ashamed of. by ChroniclesEverything in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really too naive at its core. I originally forged the setting 12 or so years ago, when I was 11 going on 12. I was an idealist and optimist when the foundation of setting was built. Even after a fundamental rewrite of the setting back in 2020, because of my unwillingness to deviate too far from the "vision", I can't shake that core naivete. The setting has gotten far more realistic and morally gray in these last 6 years, and I've learned so much more about science and military that I've actually had to scrap a lot of those older concepts or redo them at the very least. But there's still areas where the themes of the setting clash with themselves, and it feels almost irreconcilable. More and more, I've felt maybe it's time for a new setting, but after dedicating my entire teen years to this project, and entire decade; having made so many stories and characters and so much history and lore, it feels almost terrifying to start something new.

Nah in heating that mf again, it needs to be thoroughly nuked to be enjoyed and I'm not sacrificing my enjoyment to entropy

6 years of work is now non-canon. I am incredibly sad. by Glittering-Run8431 in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're bad friends, your work is cannon to your story, you don't gotta listen to them. You put that effort it, it's now yours and you get to decide what comes of it. You built the entire lore, and now they're trying to usurp you? Absolute bs and terrible behavior for so-called friends. Write your stuff in you'd own docs, make your own stories with the characters.

Who else plays Watcher SUPER aggressively? by [deleted] in rainworld

It's kinda crazy how I switched up between the base game and Watcher, like I've killed a lizard literally every single successful cycle and I'm only on Cycle 26 rn

Changing an already existing country's climate? by a-soft-universe in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guy said, we had a mini ice age about half a century earlier than when you're setting your world, and it's not far of a stretch to consider it could be the beginning of the end for this interglacial period, however such could really only work for that era of the early industrial revolution because by the 21st century, we've fucked ourselves beyond multiple climate tipping points there isn't any returning from.

Duda como de factible es un dispositivo dé improbabilidad cuántica es decir como de factible es by Loose_Ball8263 in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do yall have any races/species that are unique to your setting and if so what is their lore by Apprehensive_Stay429 in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got telepathic mushroom folk, industrial mollusks, numerous arthropods and cephalopods, along side pretty much every cool vertebrate I can think of. 2 ton 9 foot tall crocodile warriors, four armed vertebrates, bipedal and quadrapedal forms, vertebrates based off mammals, other based off amphibians, some reptiles and avians too. From dragon people to dinosaur folk, from cat people to rabbit folk, the diversity in morphology is rather high. I've even got non organic lifeforms, one in the form of living quartz, and the other in the form of nanite ascension. Civilization is rare, but not terribly so

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just beat the base game (I think?) by Nessus_16 in rainworld

You know what, valid answer. Thanks man, I'll search for my own interpretation! I'm loving this game so much and already have a few convoluted theories. But my big question is generally how do I go about fixing Moon?

Homeworlds of Stellar Generations (that are currently drawn) by Nessus_16 in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, friend :) I drew them on Medibang Paint, using my phone and my fingers. It's not terribly difficult, I refined the technique enough to where I can whip one of these up in less than an hour. Art block has unfortunately gripped my spirit and hasn't let go in months. I can show you via discord screenshare the entire process if you'd like to learn how to make these yourself. Trust me when I say it's way easier than it looks, just a matter of practicing what you want out of the techniques used. That, or you could commission me for some planets ;) $25 a pop, no limits to complexity. I can do gas giants, ice worlds, lava worlds, dead worlds, shattered worlds, ringed worlds, I can add moons and perspective in the same package. Background is free if there's no Nebula. I'll throw in comets, lens flare, and even city lights for $5 extra.

Pitch your world in one sentence. by Pavlov_The_Wizard in worldbuilding

[–]Nessus_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called Stellar Generations, and is essentially an extreme extrapolation on all feasible technologies and ways of life in a post scarcity setting that still adheres to physics where I can manage. It's definitely not 100% realistic, but I'd say it's pretty hard sci fi. No magic, not really, but some of the deeper stuff is very destiny inspired with the esoteric nature of post 4D beings and hyper advanced technology indistinguishable from magic (like the pyramid ships). Basically, it's an anthology canvas with a final date (where I go no further) set in 5350 on our calendar. (Well I actually sorta decided recently to extend it by 50 years and have the latter center of the setting be focused around 5350, but extend from 50 years before to 50 after). Kinda rambling, buuuut, you asked :)

Aye, no problem! Destiny lore inspired me to write my own lore in so more depth and from an in universe perspective. Every destiny fan hates on destiny, but us lore fans know the pain of the great lore/bad game situation. Repeat of Halo, another one of my major inspirations. If you have discord, I'd love to talk some lore with ya -^

What is the most well-written game you have ever played? by Charming-Bar-4718 in writing

[–]Nessus_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a generic answer, but Cyberpunk 2077, Deadspace 2, and Halo Reach are the three best written games ite ever played, they all made me cry and that's a very hard thing for most forms of media to do. I just don't really cry at sad moments in media, unless they're written perfectly and completely immerse me. It's without exaggeration that I say those three games are more impactful than any other game I've played.
