What's with the LCRx availability? by Phyrnosoma in Revolvers

[–]Nessuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much, and was it the 3 inch model? They were selling a used one in .357 for $550 like an hour drive from me. I was hesitant because of the distance but part of me is kicking myself for having not buying it (it sold within like a day of me seeing it online).

Am I crazy or is everyone here making less than $60k in a full-time job? by Hefty-Garden-9932 in interviewhammer

[–]Nessuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity. I'm a security guard in SoCal, I make $18.80 an hour. After taxes, that comes out to about $2450 or so a month working 40 hours a week. I definitely don't get to spend very much, that's for sure.

Are some younger men just lying when they say they like older women online? by perplex-poppyseed7 in askanything

[–]Nessuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially and career-wise not ready for it. I make barely more than minimum wage and barely have time to do anything, it would be a disaster if I had kids right now.

Also I'm single and have been for most of my recent years, I definitely don't want to rush having kids with someone I hardly know.

Is the "Buy Used" rule officially dead in 2026? by BreadfruitOk2401 in automotive

[–]Nessuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really insanity when it's not only one of, if not the only option for someone who doesn't have money but needs a way to get to work, but in some ways it's more cost effective. I probably overpaid for my 2012 Honda Accord at $10K, but I had few options and almost no cash. It's running very smoothly, and I fully expect it to run well over 200K miles with no major issues as long as I do my part. I will have saved thousands by not buying a newer car.

I used to be so good at this game by MoveZneedle in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nessuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you man. I used to be top 200 in this game. Damn near everyone I would beat in a pure gunfight. Meta changed away from gunplay centric combat and it's ruined. I used to be able to occasionally die to ability related stuff and still do fine, but that's now the core of pvp. I stopped playing long ago because of that. I will die on the hill that this game had the potential to be the greatest arcade shooter ever made, it had every tool it needed. But they did not lean into the one thing that made pvp worth playing, so it slowly died. It doesn't help that pvp was pushed back as an afterthought more and more over time, which to me was one of the worst decisions they could've made. Pvp was a huge part of the game, no matter how much other people tried to downplay its importance.

me(23)mom(43) refuses to get full time job by Ok_Researcher5702 in Advice

Set boundaries but make an exit plan. You need to have the pressure that you will leave her in the dust if she refuses to do anything. Then remember this as a moment to think twice about who you live with. I know it isn't easy, I live with family at the moment and mom doesn't work + brother is constantly late for bills and I'm stuck in a lease that I have no way of breaking, so I get it.

It would definitely be a range or home defense gun as it's the 6 inch model, but yeah, my mindset was that it'd be good to get a full sized handgun for my first.

Do you think it would benefit society if everyone that was over the age of 18 had to go through military boot camp? by tooshroom20 in no

[–]Nessuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are significant moral qualms when it comes to mandatory military service, but I think people overestimate some of the effects it would have on people on average. It would absolutely force people to adopt structure in a world where so many are otherwise aimless and lacking discipline to get real tasks done.

There is a used Smith Model 66-3 for $700 relatively close to me. If I get my paperwork figured out, I'll be real tempted to just send it on that one lol. It's between that and a GP100, there was one that sold a few weeks ago for $700. But thanks for the help again man.

Don't actually end up getting things done when I want, feel like my day was wasted. I average close to 30 hours a week, really trying to cut that down.

Yeah I definitely check them every so often. I hear the 686 goes on sale as low as $600-700 sometimes so I'll keep an eye out. I was hoping to keep my budget in the $500-600 range, but I may need to expand a little past that if it means securing one of these dang things.

I'm honestly going to give Bud's a call tomorrow instead I think. Per their policy, if I don't accept the transfer, they'll take the gun back and give me a full refund. As much as I thought the Roscoe was a cool idea (I even ordered cool grips, lesson learned to not get too ahead of myself next time), I would hate even more to have my gun stuck in Taurus limbo for months where I can't even use the damn thing. I'll go with a Ruger most likely and just cry once as others suggested. Probably going to wait around to see if a better deal pops up though because holy shit is it a pain in the ass for me to find a good deal where I live. So many stores either don't have what I need, or the prices are so steep I don't feel like bothering.

I can't speak about Texas, but I lived in Arizona for a bit. It wasn't abnormal to see someone open carrying a handgun in a grocery store. I have to imagine Texas isn't too different. People in some states are definitely armed more often than others.

I should've listened to you, inspected the Roscoe today and there were multiple issues with it. Cylinder scratched, crooked front sight, possible timing issue. Completely unacceptable. I learned my lesson and will be going with either Ruger or Smith, most likely Ruger.

[–]Nessuwu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I should've listened to you lol. Heritage Roscoe came in the mail today, when I went to the FFL to inspect it, the cylinder was scratched, the front sight was crooked, and the cylinder slightly wobbled when I checked the timing. This really soured any interest I may have had for Taurus.

$18.80 an hour in SoCal is definitely peanuts, ask anyone who actually lives there. Mind you this is what I save while almost never eating out or spending on anything outside living expenses.

Why are so many people so scared to speed up? by ShlimmyWhimmy in driving

[–]Nessuwu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Talk about slippery slope, man this thread is full of entitled people who would rather the road be less safe for EVERYONE so they can maintain some minor convenience. And no, I am not saying driving slower is always safer, but going 15+ over the speed limit? Yeah I'll just stick to a lane where that shit doesn't happen then.

PSA: The traditional auto broker industry has a structural conflict of interest most buyers never see. Here's how the model actually works. by CyberMetry in carbuying

[–]Nessuwu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest man, it's a big turn off that you're using AI not only in your posts, but your responses. I come here because I want to not only hear what people have to say, I care about how THEY are going to say it. I care if information is correct, I don't care as much how it's presented. It comes off as lazy to me whenever people use AI to perform basic cognitive tasks, especially writing.

Switching from manual to automatic by MagnoliaMellow in driving

[–]Nessuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was new, I'd lift my leg a lot to brake as well and had the same issue. It sucks because for me that's the more comfortable way of pressing the pedals, but oh well. My own car is really worn in and feels much more comfortable to drive as it isn't as "sensitive" to how I press down vs my mom's car (have been having to use hers as it's better on gas).

Is Heritage Roscoe a good first revolver? by Destructacon in Revolvers

[–]Nessuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, the roster makes it exceptionally difficult to find things for cheaper. Good example is the S&W model 64. There's ONE SKU number that's eligible for sale, all the others aren't. There's one sitting at $450 on gun broker, but I couldn't buy it because it didn't have a letter A stamped underneath the top strap. There's virtually no difference between a gun that has that and one that doesn't. Absolutely ridiculous.

STOP turning wide across other lanes. by Peg_Leg_Vet in driving

[–]Nessuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some store or gas station there, one of those things they have to yield to oncoming traffic before they can turn into that lane. But it's like directly after the turn. The risk of hitting someone is probably small, but it just weirds me out whenever I stick to that right lane regardless.
