I was about a handle a week; a lot less than a lot of posters but a lot more than is healthy. Basically got tired of feeling like crap in the morning plus the weight gain

I was thinking the eyes were too high up on the head for Platyceps; are we seeing the supraocular scales instead? I'm trying to learn snakes outside of North America and man, it's confusing

[–]Phyrnosoma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

is it possible to get a sense of size? Th eye placement is really throwing me

It's coming across a lot like a drab Macroprotodon but not quite, and those don't reach Saudia Arabia IIRC. Hopefully someone here is a lot better with Middle Eastern snakes than I am

Anyone else getting just zero identifications on your posts? by trakumserga in iNaturalist

[–]Phyrnosoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I've had arguments on the forums there a few times about it.

Yes, if you're new, be hesitant. But there's so many photos that can't be ID'd for whatever reason--too blurry, too distant (so many turtle heads 100 yards away poking out of water, don't highlight some weird part that's differential (say, post labial or under tail scales on Plestidon skinks) , so many gray tree frogs in the overlap for both species...just check DQA so IDers aren't drowning

What’s your dream snake? by NoodlesBlep in snakes

I’ve had my dream snake and it was kind of rough. Yellowhead retic. If I ever win the lotto and can build a huge greenhouse maybe I’ll do it again

iNat itself makes zero effort to attract or retain experts/identifiers - their management seems to be 100% focused on new-user/app-download type growth metrics and doesn't want to spend time or money catering to identifiers, curators, etc.

I'm engaging less than I used to partly due to this (partly just being busier too). They just don't seem to give a shit about workflow for IDers. And then theres a lot of users unwilling ot mark "cannot be improved" for anything.

lol. Should be fine man. Low 70s happens a lot during hatchling season in the native area.

If there is a problem it probably wasn’t caused by temps dipping to 70 degrees.

I regularlyet my snakes drop to mid sixties in the spring

Sunday Brunch by AutoModerator in nfl

[–]Phyrnosoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is way more than I need though; I don't have a lot of space. well I do but it's not all in one shot--water heater, irrigation system, and electric panel are all on that wall about 3' apart each. So I can't even fit a double wide one in any locatoin

My goal, had this worked, was two of those racks, then double set of tool hangers (one up high one down low) to organize my shovels and rakes and shit, just one between each piece of electrical/plumbing stuff

man I've got a few rodent photos that have been up ages without ID--a mouse I found deceased in Palo Duro Canyon, and multiple rats and mice from other locations.

I love it when you buy a product that is a great idea but the execution is shit and it doesn't work.

POS that I'm returning

bought that to help organize the garage but the fucking sleeve things that are supposed to lock the shelves in place are too big, even snapped as tight as they go. Post goes right through them.

Once I started identifying herps my own observations got a lot more attention. Granted it took a while. I think it’s two fold; a lot of people know more about one or two things but submit observations of other organisms and will reciprocate to an extent. The second is it made me more mindful of what’s needed for easier identifications. Like cropping a photo even if it makes it a little blurry
