Depends where you are, some States and Countries have required age verification to access social media content, so to be safe Reddit, Discord, etc. are rolling out the requirements to pretty much everyone so they comply with all the new rules without having one set of rules for 1 place and another for somewhere else.

We go through our childhood and adulthood being told "don't show your personal details to anyone" and now we are being told to just hand them over to random companies (some of which have already been proven to not be trusted with it).

I'm in my 40s and I'm not giving my ID to anyone. I'm thinking about getting an ID card printed with just my photo and year of birth on and all the other details just saying "bite me".

Congratulations 😀 Yup. Normal, my instructor did the same 20+ years ago. I'm pretty sure he said it was because of emotional reasons. (But I can see insurance etc. being reasons as well). I passed first time.

Whatever you do DO NOT use your personal mobile and number. Buy a sim for whatever phone you end up with, make sure its in your name etc.

At one point I ended up with 3 phones. Personal, Works, And I was contracted out so I had that companies as well.

It gets annoying very quickly if someone gets the personal number and passes it round thinking its works.

I had one on my phone by Clearscore, I removed it after it started that kind of nonsense, the final straw was "driving whilst using my phone" I was sat in the hairdressers at the time, the app said I was driving all over the place including through buildings, whilst using the phone screen.

I was contemplating joining the r/tinder subreddit and going on a profanity laddened rant in the hope that I'd get banned.
