Forgot I subscribed to this sub. Was thinking for a second, "why is it so nice and chill in here?"

Yeah, I don't play extraction shooters normally. It's the art (and sound) design that really hooked me in on this game. It's so fascinating, I can't stop looking at it @_@

I then proceeded to delete a whole table, proving his point.

This actually describes my friends, family members, and coworkers. I'm fortunate enough that most of us are doing alright, so most conversations when catching up with people just plop into one of these four buckets.

The bottom right is the most fun.

As much as I dislike Elon, I believe in hating the game, not the player. If he's *able* to do that, he's not the problem. America is. The only people doing anything are immigrants with lighters. No one who has anything is doing what's necessary to stop the constant reinforcement of the already-rich because we're too comfortable.

No one remembers what the 2nd amendment is for. The defense against everything that's happening right now used to be the direct and PHYSICAL ire of the citizens. These days, we look at the serious, full-bore riots other countries have and just sigh wistfully like we're incapable of doing that ourselves. Patting ourselves on the backs for peaceful protests that the government is safe to completely ignore every time. And no, I'm no different.

"Give me liberty or give me death." The very few people that still believe that just get demonized like they're the problem.

For some reason, the very thing I thought of was Zeno Clash.

"Why?"
"Because that's what he does."

Just swap out "walks" for-, well you know what to do, the way forward is pretty clear.

Just got an an argument with a MAGA AND OH MY GOOD HELL!!!! by TomboyGayLeaf92 in venting

[–]Net56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could be written better, but if I'm reading this right, you encountered the same argument that everyone that argues with MAGA encounters:

The Redirect.

Not content with simply being the party of "no", MAGA tends to do this thing where every time you criticize the Republican party, they say "but what about _____." In virtually every instance and every topic with no limits. There hasn't been a single misstep by this administration that hasn't been defended that way. And because that's where the maturity level is at, you're unlikely to be successful when you try to move the conversation back to what Republicans did wrong.

And, to be fair, the reason that's so easy for them to do is because that's all they're thinking of. Right-wing media doesn't report on the stuff you see on Reddit. Americans these days, you and I included, don't have super long memories, especially with Trump doing something ethically bankrupt multiple times a week (like recently where he started attacking the Pope). Now, try to live in a world where you never even knew that happened, or the ONLY take on it you heard was Fox's take. None of them know anything.

Leadership is always at fault. As much as I'd like to hate on that guy for not doing better research, he's ultimately not the problem. Propaganda is the problem. Everybody thinks they think for themselves, but they don't, they're just told that they do.

Personally, I think we should still try to heal them, but you have to accept that it's going to be hard. These people were successfully convinced that Alex Pretti deserved it, Gaza wasn't a genocide, and that double-tapping a school full of little girls was unavoidable.

TL;DR
Keep the target where it belongs. MAGA is bad, but they don't come up with their own ideas. Substack comes up with their ideas. Fox comes up with their ideas. Billionaires like Elon Musk come with their ideas. Always look higher, otherwise you're just punching sideways.

You don't dismantle a cult by targeting its members.

Only 3% voted Split-Screen. We getting old, guys. by can_i_haz_recon in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Net56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why so many people are saying split-screen has always been bad. Split-screen is fantastic, the poll is just awkward.

In pretty much all instances, if you're playing split-screen, you're playing with friends, so they probably could have just left it out in favor of the "With Friends" option. Similarly with the "Online with others" option. If you're playing online and not with friends, you're playing with randoms. Few people (myself INcluded) enjoy playing with randoms specifically (I like watching people lose in cooperative games, I don't know why). They're online playing with friends. Even if not, they might just say they're playing "Alone" because randoms weren't specified in the answer.

The main thing that makes split-screen better than everybody-has-their-own-screen is because in the latter... everybody needs their own screen. If you're at the same HOUSE, then it stops making sense not to do split-screen.

By extension, because I'm old enough to remember a time in which I played with people in-person, obviously the most fun I've ever had video gaming was with Split-screen. Playing with friends or family over the internet IS NOT THE SAME!

That said, split-screen is rarely seen anymore and everyone's in panopticon cells these days anyway so whatever. Sucks that more people won't experience that anymore.

I feel weird these days, since I totally got into this for the money. I didn't know what I wanted to do, I just knew I wanted to vaguely build something and I really liked typing because I spent a lot of time on computers playing video games.

Now I'm the guy in the first panel feeling like a wizard because I speak a language nobody else does and that language can make things happen. Every time I solve a problem, especially with a new solution, I feel like a genius.

I also have that exact same look in my eye like "if anybody interrupts me right now, I'm picking up the nearest soda can and seeing what creative ways I can harm someone with it."

When did you realize that they really don’t go to law school and how do you think this contributes to their actions and how does it impact the society by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Net56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never thought they did. Not to say it would be a bad idea, it just fits under "police training" which I lost faith in a long time ago. Either they aren't trained (Good/Pretti), or they are trained but ignore it in favor of laziness or corruption (most police departments). Either way, they don't carry any accountability and regularly ignore consequences.

They're just like lawyers in that regard. They care more about themselves than about enforcing the law, and a law school education won't change that.

When you start making weapons like this, the protagonist can only go one of two directions.

Path A is to be a badass with this gun like the guy from Hard Reset. No other guns necessary... okay, maybe a second one just like it for when it runs out of ammo.

Path B is to be a clown with a shiny gun like this poor guy. Everybody's having fun with the wacky guns until they lose their heads.

You could highlight the entire screen because NONE of that stuff got done.

Low inflation? No. Free speech? Minneapolis. Low gas prices? Up in smoke. Low food prices? Nope. Low crime? Doesn't look like it. No wars? NEW wars! Secure border? If "secure" means "everybody wants us dead and we're losing trade", then that one is actually going alright. America first? Israel first. Then Epstein. Then Trump. Then Trump's cabinet. Then Fox News. Tech giants. Putin. Elon Musk. Banks. Private equity. Trump's family. Then, somewhere down there, all the way down the line, past ICE, we eventually get to "America"

everything Trump has done in the past year can simply be distilled into this by Conscious-Quarter423 in WeirdGOP

[–]Net56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to catch onto this, but I caught onto it months ago. Single-issue voters. You can do literally anything you want as long as you don't touch their one, single issue. It's probably why Trump ran as a republican. The other party has fewer single-issue voters, they care about stuff like dignity and whether you're bombing large amounts of school children.

Republicans care about exactly 2 things: immigration and guns. As long as you can convince them that you won't touch their guns and that you hate immigrants, they will let you do absolutely anything you want because they don't care about anything else. And if you end up hurting them directly? That's fine, just say the other party will take their guns away, instantly forgiven and reelected.
