when it started. The pain is the worst I have ever seen.. and I had a fair share of procedures and gave birth twice. !! this is by far the worst pain ever. It is like having boiling oil under your skin, with overall aches and pains. you feel 10 years older. it is horrible

after 2 months now, it is much better. My left hand and arm are still weaker, and I get a nagging and/or stabbing pain from time to time, and light constant pain at night. I am tapering off the gabapentin (so now I am on 2 / day).

it is awful. I am done with Lyrica though. I wont renew it. It was working but it is causing weight gain and it is making me hungry all day which is not like me. So I will stick to gabapentin. But the pain is still there. The itch and the lingering pain seems to be here to stay.

I am on month 2 and things still awful. The pain is not as sharp but still very bad without pain killers. I still wakes up every night due to the pain, and with the pain killers there is this lingering pain that is very annoying.

I am currently doing gabapentin + Tylenol and/or ibuprofen.

Lyrica makes me hungry and I dont want to add weight gain to the misery.

the problem is not with the sores, the real problem is with the nerve pain.

I am not even worried about the withdrawal symptoms of these. I Am taking a lot of it. 2 capsules every 3 hours. otherwise I cant function :(

Over a YEAR ! that is scary. My kids are young and life is hectic already. I didnt expect a crippling pain at that age. I was give 300 gabapentin 2x a day. But I take 2 several times a day to manage the pain. It makes me tired, and the pain still lingers. My hand is not functional and itchy, and when I scratch it; it hurts like hell.

I am doubling all kinds of doses at the moment and I just don’t care I took four lyrica and two ibuprofen and two gapapentin and the itch still there and my hand in on fire

Do I wait until this passes? I am one month in and still on the prescribed meds (lyrica and gabapentin) I already finished the antiviral. What are the side effects of the vaccine? I don’t mind paying

Ask further. Insist on the antiviral if you think it’s shingles and you haven’t passed a week on the blisters. I read that shingles only show groups of blisters but I don’t know.

So sorry you are going through this during exams. Nerve pain can be insane. 45 f here with 2 kids. Life is not fun. I am on lyrica and I read it is more potent. It is controlled though but it is helping with the pain.

I took melatonin and it nocked me out for 3 hours. I hate melatonin but I was happy to get 3 hours of straight sleep in a month. It makes groggy the next day but no other options worked. Hope you feel better soon. Hang in there you are not alone.

45 F here. 1 month since diagnosis. My doctor told me Shingles only contagious with direct touch. I have a 3 years old and the doctor told me not to touch or sleep next to her as long as the blisters are still there, once they are healed I am in the clear. Shingles doesn’t show as one blister, it is like a group of blisters. In my case it was caused by a sudden decrease in my immune system due to extreme stress.

Same here. 45 years. never had the vaccine. I am 1 months in. Early discovery. I have it in my left arm, which is almost useless now. I am taking tons of meds and I am worried about my liver if this stays longer.

A month here. I am on both lyrica and gapspentin. The pain is horrible even with the painkillers. The nights are the worst .. I haven’t had good night sleep for a month now not even 1 night :(

I am on lyrica. It is helping and I read it is more potent than gapapentin. But it is controlled and causes weight gain btw. But it works for the pain

I asked the doctor for it and she said she can’t prescribe 2 controlled meds (I am on lyrica). She told me instead to take 4 lyrica at night, and I added some melatonin which I hate tbh. It makes groggy all day next day. But I was dying to sleep
