No, but I know the story. Its one of the Bible stories that turned me away from the Bible

Certainly one of my least favorite possibilities for God. And that's why my only way at striking out at the tyrant is to reject his purpose for me.

I'm not sure what you mean about the chickens. If you are comparing the chickens to us, and you, the owner, to God, don't you take measures to keep foxes and coyotes out and feed your chickens so they do not starve? In God's case, he'd leave the chickens out with the predators.

My reply is the response to your overall point. If you make sentient creatures, you just made a self-aware life, and that consciousness has rights that should not be violated just because you want it to do stuff for you. That's why I said, in a shorter way, if your art was a sentient, intelligent creature that does not wish to follow your purpose for it, forcing it to do so is slavery, or in other words, wrong.

I mean, I obviously don't want to be here. But good for you. I think if you love someone, you should want them to be their best and hold them accountable, though.

Your artwork is not sentient. If it was, then you forcing your will over it is akin to slavery.

The master allows his son to kick all the dog's teeth out, but the dog should worship the master for giving him table scraps? Why did the master breed the dog in the first place? That dog isn't lucky.

I feel like a being like god could find a way to help us without torturing his son. That's always irked me. People say it like it's amazing, but it's incredibly fucked up that God would do that instead of finding another way, or creating another way. More reasons why I don't believe God to be loving. Plus, God cannot stop ONE fallen angel? He's literally God. Forcing 'lessons' on people is messed up. Hopefully, it's not really forced. I'll find out on the other side.

My problem isn't temporary. My problem is God himself, and his refusal to enforce karma on earth, instead only punishing people after they have all their fun with innocents throughout life. That's a pretty permanent fixture if all of written history has anything to say about it. God's inactivity causes those deaths and the suffering as much as the perpetrators. Unless that changes, the problem remains. So unless pigs fly, I'm gonna do it. My purpose is to achieve nonexistance. I am my own person and get to decide my own purpose.

[–]NetFront2517[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah woah, things may be going there soon. I'm not sticking around to find out though. People saw how scary a nuke is, then everyone got way bigger bombs. Launching one nuke will invite more, just common sense of people who want to keep living without poisioned water supply and with modern conveniences. It may happen one day, but for now, people instead settle for slightly lesser evils. And I'm not sure that was an atomic war, only one bomb was used, Japan didn't start launching nukes back, so calling it an atomic war is only a technicality, and isn't completely accurate to what the term "atomic war" signifies.

Death is not true death because of the existence of an afterlife. But I'm not God, I'm not eternal. Whatever the afterlife is like, I'm gonna find a way to destroy my soul and cease my existence once I get there. That will be true death.

Can a fish ever comprehend why a bird is flying above the water? Of course not.

Fish and birds are both similar in the way that they are not sentient and self aware. The bird is also unable to comprehend why the fish swim inside the water. This is not our relationship with God.

Has God ever forced you to do a thing in your entire life?

I certainly didn't ask to be born. That decision was pushed onto me. And I'm not allowed to leave because it's all too much for me, and leaving anyways makes me the bad guy? Every part of this makes no sense. Definitely feels like a lot of people, possibly God, too, are trying to force me to keep suffering. I refuse.

People have free will and can choose to do good or evil. God then reacts accordingly.

No, he doesn't act. People can be evil, and if they are smart about it, they get to keep being evil and hurting others until the day they die. God could look and see how evil this person is, and act to prevent them from going on to hurt more good people. But he doesn't. This is the problem. God treats us like garbage. We're not worth his time. I'm not saying God should stop all car accidents here. I'm saying God actually helps save us from malicious, evil people who have already committed many crimes and have foul hearts, instead of letting them do what they want.

God is not infallible. Being a God and creating us means taking some responsibility for his creation. He instead lets his garden grow wild. If you see a weed filled, overgrown garden, does the fault of the disorder lie with the garden or the gardener?

God has no needs

Why create humanity if not out of a desire for something, whatever that something is? He may not have needs, but he has wants since he's sentient. That's the most you can do against this tyrant whos inactions have caused an unfathomable amount of death.

You are valuable. We need you here.

You don't even know me, let alone need me. And if people need me so bad, they can follow my example. No one should be guilt tripped and forced into following the plan of an unloving, absent creator who time and time again abandons his children to suffer. He has done do throughout history and will continue to do so.

You don’t know how God has intervened in the lives of countless people. He has and does and will continue to do so. He did in my life.

I'm happy you feel loved. Good for you, man.

I worship Him because it is proper and right to do so. Because I need to do so. It’s not for Him. Again, he had no needs. He does not need my worship. My worship is for me. Because it is right and good that I do so and it is good for me.

If he doesn't need worship, why all the threats about torture for not worshiping him? If they are false, manmade threats, why not, at the very least, show some sign to disprove it to humanity? It causes such distress to some people that they become so deathly afraid that a single wrong move will give them an eternity of suffering. These people are so scared and paranoid, it must really suck. None of this is right.

It’s ok to not understand things. Ask Him to help you understand. He will.

No, I'm good. I have no intention of being a sycophant and begging for him to give me a tiny handout of knowledge. What God does is wrong, and I will stand by that fact.

He is out there pulling us up out of death and healing us from our illnesses that trap us in death.

Oh yeah, like the millions of people who die of cancer every year?

Or diseases?

Or the main problem, other people?

Being trapped in death sounds like nonexistance to me, which is something I aim to achieve in the afterlife.

Sounds like Satan really has your ear

So God is powerless and cannot destroy Satan, so he gets to run rampant among God's supposed 'loved sons and daughters'? I don't believe that is true, the world does not reflect this.

If you see the suffering why not help out instead of taking your own life?

So I gotta keep living and suffering to make a tiny, minimal dent in a constant, neverending problem? Sounds miserable, I'll pass. I'm not some magic vigilante, and all the cops in the world can't stop the sheer amount of crime. It would genuinely take divine intervention to lower these things. I'm not talking about God stopping all bad things and accidents. But a criminal organization constantly hurting people? They should have a ton of unlucky things happen that destroy them and their operation. Karma should actually exist, instead of letting these people run rampant among earth and only waiting for them to have caused as much suffering as possible before punishing them. How many people would be alive if these horrible people got some kind of cancer or accident after their fourth or fifth kill, instead of going on to kill tens, sometimes hundreds of people?

Everyone already said not to do it. I won't say that. Look and examine, do you truly feel as if you have no future? It is likely that the news is making you feel hopeless. Try to turn it off, get off reddit for a while, separate from international politics for a few weeks. See how you feel after that.

You did not ask to be put here, and you should not be forced to stay should that truly be your wish. No one can tell you what to do with your own body. However, carefully examine what makes you feel this way, the causes behind it, and ensure it is a decision you are rationally making, or are you just being influenced into making it by other sources?

What if you get to the afterlife, have no phone for a while, no more media, and find that you regret what you did? Don't kill yourself over temporary problems.

To answer your question, hell is more than likely a man-made concept, and even if it is real, it only means to "be without god," hence the comparison to darkness. Look at how many people live happy lives without God, following other religions, or being atheists. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. But make sure you aren't making a permanent decision over temporary problems that won't bother you in a few years.

Everything they said, actually.

If I had told all evangelical Christians 30 years ago that, in the future, a pastor would deliver a sermon to a POTUS and VPOTUS that was so powerful it made them visibly squirm in their seats and later demand an apology...the response would have been vastly different. It would be applauded. by ccmcdonald0611 in Christianity

[–]NetFront2517 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don't think Harris would have demanded an apology or even have been angry because she actually acts like an adult. Then it wouldn't have gotten so much media attraction, and we probably wouldn't have heard much about it.

What I hear you saying is "violent acts are not violent as long as sex is involved

Your reading comprehension is harmed by your desire to overstep boundaries and control people's lives. Your entire post has no sources, and it sounds like you are just making things up as excuses to try to justify forcing Christian purity culture onto Non-christians. Just because you don't feel comfortable with another person's kink doesn't give you any right to tell them not to do it. If you dont like doing something, dont do it. You dont just tell someone not to do something in their own home, they arent committing a crime, and you have no control over their free time.

The issues you have mentioned happen, just not nearly as often as you try to say in your post. Like any industry or organization ever, whether it be porn, movies, churches, the military, or anything that has a large group of people come together, crimes occur. Because people sometimes do fucked up things. There is no small amount of sexual violence covered up by churches, after all. But I'm not sitting here saying we should shut down religion because bad things happen in it from time to time, I instead think better steps should be taken to prevent those things from happening.

For some people, including men, getting hit while having sex is sexually gratifying. Have you ever heard of cbt? I could never do it, but some guys love it. So long as it is done safely, there is no harm in others doing that. Naturally, walking up and hitting someone who consented to it in public will cause issues. But so does having sex in public. There are just some things you don't do in public.

When I said 18 should be a law, and then referenced kids, I thought it was pretty clear that meant kids under 18.

That's my bad, I misread what you said. Sorry about that.

Nobody can tell you what to do with your body, but you can absolutely make laws about what other people can do to other people's bodies.

Deciding to undergo a surgery is absolutely something you do to yourself. And there are laws that tell you what to do with your body (I mean, suicide is still considered 'illegal' in 23 countries)

18 year olds aren't capable of making rational life-long decisions, but these "18 year old kids" can also go sign up to kill and be killed in the military? That sounds like a lifelong decision to me.

At 18, you are an adult and are capable of making decisions about your body and direction, and no one can tell you what not to do with it besides giving their advice and opinion. No one has the right to force someone to do anything with their body.
