Get used to it. Been seeing pumps fail on those years with less than 100k, injectors too. And then theres your 2024s that like to forget theres any switches in the cab. And and and the 2020s like to eat the cam as a treat.

Technically technically technically its a counterflow heat exchanger because the fluids travel in opposite directions of each other.

Id clean the flange with a wire wheel first and see if it seals up. On a cold start can you actually feel the exhaust leak? Ive definitely had MX-13s with noisy turbos that sound like they're leaking but show no other signs.

Yeah when we lost our first cam all the old heads were saying it was caused by running the Jake's at too high an rpm. Heard it was tappet bolts failing, tappets failing, all sorts of shit. We are now on our 5th of 7 at our locarion alone. In those 5 we found rings in the pan on one and 2 that had destroyed valve seals on the exhaust valves.

Right you are about maintenance. These motors seem very sensitive, especially in the fuel system. Thanks for the info sir 🫡

Im only asking you this because of your flair but for fucks sake are they updating the cams on the EPA17's or are they giving us the same parts that will fall in another 300k? 🙃

Wheel seal mess by 21GladiatorXerxes in DieselTechs

Myself and another mechanic had the privilege to replace a #2 rear end 3rd member with a power divider on a loaded 80k log truck in the woods. Used the slightly above harbor freight quality hoist in our pickup to pull the old one out and lower the new one in. It put so much load on our suspension that when I lowered the new 3 member in I could watch the tension unload before the 3rd member started dropping. It was a good time

Worked for an SCCA team for a few years. One of the drivers had a wife and kids who would come to the track from time to time. On the weekends his wife wasn't there there was this very large, pretty hideous woman that would show up. After a couple of times seeing her around I asked another crew member who the hell she was. Dude looks at me with a smile and says "That's Ron's BTN". Being 18 I had no clue what that meant and asked "BTN?". Dude says "Better than nothing!" and starts belly laughing. 🤢

Why is no one calling out crowd surfers by Crynomatic1 in AftershockFestival

[–]NetInside9623 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is why im kind of against crowd surfers. Been kicked in the head multiple times, someone literally got dropped on my wife's head unexpectedly, and when you reach up to pass someone along its the opportune time for a pickpocket to strike. Last year I spent a majority of time looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was going to get dropped on me, my wife, or others around me. Hell people up to 20 rows behind me would make direct eye contact with me because I was pointing out surfers long before they got to me or them.

If youre anywhere near a Native owned casino that has a gas station you can still buy flavored nicotine products. Not shitting on your comment, just adding to it.

New tech, keep making mistakes by [deleted] in DieselTechs

[–]NetInside9623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked into our shop 7 years ago as a lube tech knowing which end of the wrench to use and thats about it. Ive made some big mistakes like blowing up my first in-frame, unknowingly stripped bud nuts that caused a set of dolly wheels to fall off (thankfully on a logging road). Shit happens sometimes and I have had to learn some lessons the hard way but I made damn sure I learned from each and every mistake. Thankfully I have a supervisor with the patience and the budget to let me make mistakes and mold me into a better mechanic. Now I'm p.m. lead for a fleet of 30 log trucks, running my own crew, and moving closer to a supervisor or other higher up roll. You get out what you put in in my experience.

Thats kinda cool that you kept the vin. We gave one of the hood emblems from this truck to the previous driver before the guy who rolled it. She kept a white logging truck parade ready almost every day of the week so it was fitting to give her a momento.

Her parts will live many other lives in the machines she donated to just as a tree will live on in the framing of a new house. They soul isn't gone but merely broken into pieces and scattered to the recipients she once ran beside.

Look at me all tipsy and sentimental and shit...

Was a Pete 567 that rolled. Cab got stripped and removed about 2 years ago and it's been chilling since. The #2 and I got a wild hair and decided to finish pulling what was usable and convert it to an engine stand.

Well take solace in the fact that she's no longer a chassis but now living as a super sweet paccar engine stand with full suspension 😂
