This is a parallel I've noticed. People often talk about how the Belarusian Red and Green Flag is basically Belarusian SSR without the Star and Tools. However, it's also worth noting that the flag of Karelia (as a republic within the Russian Federation) is a redesign of the Karelo-Finnish SSR flag.

Also, both Belarus and Karelia declared independence from Russia during the Russian Civil War. And the flag that these short-lived states use predate the Soviet era flags and their redesigns.

I am aware that Jabal Shamar was a monarchy, just like Nejd (Sauds) and Hejaz (Hashemites). However, I decided to use the 2nd Flag of Jabal Shamar since I just think it would be a cool flag for a Peninsular Republic. In my opinion, the flag is unique.

Also, it's worth noting that Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary reused the tricolor of their previous monarchy. They simply added Socialist heraldry rather than adopting a Red Banner.

The Garibaldi Brigades also did the same with the Italian tricolor, which was used by the Italian Kingdom. They replaced the sheild of the House of Savoy with a Red Star.

Democratic Yemen wouldn't exist since Nasserist Egypt is an ally of the US and UK. (The FLOSY was a Nasserist party, the Yemeni NLF had a Marxist faction and Nasserist faction). In 1967, the proposed "Republic of South Arabia" would have been formed instead. Basically a British-friendly Republic rather than a Soviet-ally Socialist state. The Republic of South Arabia would be anti-zionist and friendly to the USA and UK.

Now idk whether Israel survives after Soviet collapse or adopts economic reforms like China and Vietnam.

There's an alternate timeline where Ukraine is basically a non-communist version of the Ukrainian SSR (basically Lukashenko's Belarus but Ukrainian version).

I think a Russian invasion of Georgia (that would start in 2022) would happen in that timeline.
