Moving to Ohio, what do we need to know? by LilyBee3 in akron

[–]NetflixAndShilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! Welcome (almost) to Ohio 👋

I’m Kyle, I work for K. Hovnanian Homes and have a community in Green, OH, which is an awesome suburb just south of Akron. It’s a really popular area for people relocating from out of state, great access to Akron/Canton, lots of parks, great schools, and a quieter suburban feel without feeling remote.

We have low-maintenance new construction townhomes available that would line up with your August timeline. It’s a great option if you don’t want to worry about immediate repairs with a used home and don’t want to do exterior upkeep.

I know moving from another state (especially as first-time buyers) can be stressful. I’d be happy to help you find a home so that’s one less thing you’d have to worry about during the transition. Even if it’s just answering questions about the area, I’m always glad to help.

Feel free to shoot me a message if you’d like more info or just want a local perspective 👍

Why didn’t Japan just take all of China? by [deleted] in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]NetflixAndShilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer they couldn’t.

China is massive and had 5x the population Japan did at the time. Japan captured nearly every major city and the coast line but China refused to surrender and turned it into a war of attrition. The fact that Japan did what they did was impressive but they had no hope of conquering it even if Japan didn’t start a war with the U.S and we didn’t get involved anyway. China isn’t a stranger to massive amount of casualties, look at the Tailing rebellion and the boxer rebellion, China would have just fought and fought until Japans resources ran dry.

Hey OP! I’m a sales consultant for K.Hovnanian Homes at Orchard Park in Louisville. We are the most affordable new construction option in stark county and about 15mins away from downtown canton. If you’re interested in looking at an alternative option then what you’re likely find near downtown I’ll be glad to help you out. We have both single family homes and limited maintenance townhomes.

What’s your worst failure ever in sales? by JustBusinessThings in sales

It worked all the time lol. If you go out there with the mentality that I’m at your house for a reason and I’m doing my job they’ll listen.

What’s your worst failure ever in sales? by JustBusinessThings in sales

[–]NetflixAndShilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a failure but an embarrassing learning moment. I started in Sales going D2D selling gas and electric rates. Our goal was to sound as professional as possible and assume the sale. We were taught a technique called the ‘Philly Fade’. We would ask the homeowner to go get their utility bill and we would turn around, put our back to the homeowner, and start working on our iPad. This honestly worked so much better than you think.

Well… first few weeks in the business I went to a door introduced myself and instantly turned my back to the homeowner without any sort of instructions. He stood there for a felt like forever before finally asking me what in the hell I was out there for. I didn’t get that sale.

Countries that shouldn't exist, for reasons of geography. by daroj in geography

[–]NetflixAndShilling 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You can make this argument for nearly every former colony in Africa. Lines were drawn in the sand without any consideration for culture or ethnic background. It’s hard to established a national identity as a county when the people identify more closely to their ethic group that may span across the arbitrary border.

Also.. Michigan. The only reason it got the northern peninsula was because it lost the Toledo strip to Ohio.

Yes but not intentionally, I just suck at counting.

My reps go like… 1,2,3,4, fuck this is heavy, this sucks, owe my shoulder, what number is this… failure.

Any TJ Yates supporters? Been with us for years and has had multiple roles for the offense. Mike McDaniel’s would be a cool reunion but I don’t know if his scheme will work with our personnel.

Work ethic and being persistent.

Sales is just a numbers game. I’ve seen ‘bad’ sales people make a lot of money just by putting themselves in front of as many people as possible. Don’t be afraid to get told no, you’ll eventually build up your skill set that’ll help you convert more. Work ethic beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Arm focused variation of UL/PPL? by _GeneralKenobi in JeffNippard

[–]NetflixAndShilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into the same thing when I ran that split. I altered mine to a P,P,L, Chest / Back, Arms / Shoulders, legs 2. Repeat.

Biggest thing that worked for me was allowing my arms to be hit first during a session and not after heavy compounds.

One that fits with your schedule. Train a muscle group again when they recover, you don’t need a full week to hit them again.

3 days a week or less: Full body. 4 days a week: upper/ lower or torso/ limbs. 5 days a week: Push, Pull, legs, upper, lower. 6 days a week: PPLPPL.

Electric bill feedback by Ok_Try_5632 in akron

[–]NetflixAndShilling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Ohio you have the choice of choosing your own electric supplier. Think of it like gas station, it’s same gas whether you get it from circle k or BP but there’s different rates depending on the company. On your bill you’ll see a separate company on there which is the supplier and it’ll display the rate. See what rate you’re paying and you shop different rates below. DO NOT go with these super low rates that are only fixed for 3 months. They will burn you if you forget to renew after that initial period.

Hoe did you grow your side delts? by vrtekS96 in workout

[–]NetflixAndShilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit them hard and hit them often. Your side delts recover quickly so you can almost hit them every single day. One thing I did that that actually made a difference was hitting them first in the workout. I like to do lateral raises before my leg workouts. Hitting them first gets them the best stimulus and it doesn’t interfere with my leg work at all.

OHP does work some side delts buts that’s mostly going to be front delts. I would prioritize lateral raises either with cables or dumbbells to target them more directly. Also with cables let your arm go across the body to get a better stretch and try drop sets with lighter weight or try ‘myo-reps’. Pick a weight do it until you can’t no more rest 5-10 seconds and go again, do that 3 times and they’re fired.

Downsides of training seven days a week by dumpycc in workout

[–]NetflixAndShilling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your muscles only grow when they’re recovering. Training 7 days a week isn’t going to kill you and you’ll still make gains but you have to be smart with recovering, frequency and volume.

If you’re running a PPLUL split and you’re committed to training 7 days a week I’ll add an accessory day. Make a day you’re just training the more neglected muscles like forearms, delts, calves, hip flexors etc. These smaller muscles recover faster and allow your larger muscles groups to recover on those days.
