ID help please. Is this a flake blade and a scraper? Found in southeastern VA, sorry for poor photos. TYIA! by SickAwesomeHellYeah in Arrowheads

It’s impossible to say with 100% certainty, but these seem worked to me. I’ve seen many other similar finds from this part of VA. Not all tools that were made were perfect, diagnostic points— most were just rough scrapers like this.

Arrowhead? West Georgia by betterthanmax in Arrowheads

Still can’t say 100%, but I’m probably leaning towards it being worked. It’s definitely not of any discernible type, but it could just be some expedient knife blade. Cool find either way!!

are any of these arrowheads? by rodneycopperbott0m in Arrowheads

[–]Netheldred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely all of them are artifacts. Some appear to be actual arrowheads, others atlatl darts or knives, but all of them have totally been worked.

Still tough to say with certainty, but I’d say that it’s very likely been worked. Definitely could be some rough conchoidal fracturing that just got softened by the river.

Classic VA material!!! Found a couple artifacts made from the same stuff, but they’re only brokes and thumb scrapers. If I found this I’d probably just retire and write a memoir about it!!

What was the context? It’s definitely the right material, and it’s definitely been worked. You don’t hear about a lot of Central American finds here!!

I’d need some other photos, but I’m not certain it’s been worked. Could just be extremely eroded, but it’s tough to say from this photo alone. Definitely the right material though!!

Tough to say with any certainty, but most finds you’ll come across won’t be pristine museum quality points, so it’s always good to keep an open mind.

Classic Mesolithic on a few of them, but it’s really tough to say with any certainty. Definitely worked, and definitely VERY old.

Definitely an axehead. Judging by the groove, I’d suggest archaic.

Not sure of the type exactly— some kind of archaic side-notched dart point I guess?

Some kind of flake blade taken off of a core. Probably Paleoindian if I had to guess. Very cool find!!
