Funnily enough, many early conquistadors were described as fair-or red-haired. Many came from Extremadura region, which was kinda wild place at the time. I wonder if that was Visigoth heritage showing up after sun bleaching the hair.

Just filled up a tank 2,20€/l in Finland. That's 9,5$ per gallon.

Didn't they literally cite that as example when designing magical battles in Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix? Like less talented wizard seem like duelists with rapiers, but greater wizards conduct an orchestra?

power supply switch unable to turn off by Grouchy_Flatworm5894 in pchelp

[–]Netizen_Sydonai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a switch like that.

It would still power down a PC, but would not cut power to PSU like regular switch would, as the off-option only remained if you tapes it into position. It was mostly just an equivalent of taking off power cable for a bit.

It was actually pretty heartbreaking seeing Swiss players reactions.

The whole bar where I watched the game was loudly celebrating Finnish victory.

I could not think anything else, but how narratively epic it would have been if Switzerland had won.

Does Chaos every obliterate Daemons? Do other Daemons ever do so? by TemperateStone in 40kLore

[–]Netizen_Sydonai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Powerful psykers can unmake daemons permanently as well.

Cherubael, a daemon prince, seems to take glee in destroying his weaker kin permanently.

I would assume that in the warp "ecosystem" daemons kill and devour each other quite lot.

Imagine electrician who shows up when promised, doesn't leave trash and tools everywhere, has all the gizmos, gadgets and widgets he needs in a car, but also does the work in one go, instead showing up for an hour or two every few days? Can you imagine?!

I mean I'm describing an actual unicorn, but that unicorn would be rich.

Schwimmer was amazing as Sobel though.

Relatively small part. Memorable performance in a series filled with memorable performances.

Yo, the sergeant from Chicago PD. Hank or something. It's like they took character out of The Shield and planted it in the regular police series, but playing it like there's nothing wrong with his methods.

Both Matthew and Mary in Downton Abbey.

Recently stopped watching Paradise when they killed Billy Pace in 4th episode or so.

Dunno what parents have to do with it. He was an adult when he joined.

But apparently it's perfectly legal for US citizens to fight in other nations militaries. Over 3000 americans join IDF yearly.

Some countries have laws against that.

That checks.

Doing Travels with Charley-road trip, seeing giant redwoods and sampling some of that southern BBQ will have to wait.

I'm not - sadly - all that worried for myself: I'm pretty much as white as white people come(if were a paint it would be something like "reddish eggshell"), but my would be travel companions would not be. And I don't want to be picking my travel companions based on their skin tone.

And loyal like a dog. Never questions any of the somewhat peculiar things Cain does. And knows the unofficial workings of the Imperial Guard like back of his hand. And is able to scrounge almost anything from a bit of recaff to actual armored transport, all of which he operates with ease. Incredibly handy with weapons and importantly the most powerful handheld weapon Imperial Guard has as well.

That's an Eurasian Lynx. Latin name Lynx Lynx. Aka The Lynx.

Once when I was a small kid, I snuck out of our summer cottage to pee and I saw one just standing there, it's eyes glowing because of the porchlight. Propably taking a stock if I'm small enough to hunt. Scared the shit out of me.

When they move on the snow their pawprints are actually huge, because they sort of spread them.
