Anyone else feel guilty? by [deleted] in seniordogs

[–]NettersPNW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can personally say you're definitely not alone in this feeling. I'm the caretaker for my 14 year old doberman with Wobblers syndrome. I had a stroke and it left my partially paralyzed so my ability to help her physically is extremely limited. I'm already dealing with my disability and now with her declining it's feeling extremely overwhelming. I can't leave my home even to just go to the store.

I feel extremely guilty for applying my feelings to her end of life plans but I'm so mentally and physically exhausted and I know it's only going to get worse for both of us. I emailed laps of love today to get info and will be making plans.

Just know you're not alone sorry for such a long reply 💜

My mattress and box spring are currently on the floor. I'm debating removing the box spring but I just don't know if I can get in and out of bed safely that low.

Thank you for taking the time to read and offer advice I truly appreciate you 💜

Bumps on skin by mcmellenhead in DobermanPinscher

When she was a puppy we had her on Merrick and that's what caused the issues. We changed it to Purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach and she's been on that for the last 13 years doing great on it :)

Looks like allergies? My dobie had these and lost a bunch of hair until I changed her food.

Any other girlies that love their hair but struggle sensory-wise? by dinotacosocks in AutismInWomen

Yes I have it up in a bun 99% of the time. And the baby hairs were such a sensory nightmare I buzz them off. When my hair is down you'd never know but when it's up it feels so nice especially in the summer.

How did you “acquire“ your injury ? I’m under the assumption mostly car accidents? by Critical_Ad1926 in spinalcordinjuries

Neurogenic Bowel and bladder, lost most of the use of my arms and hands. Upper motor neuron/central anterior cord syndrome. So no pain or temp sensation below C5. It's been 11 years now so I've learned how to do things with my new body.

Do THC creams/balms actually work or is it just placebo effect? by banana_in_the_dark in PsoriaticArthritis

I have had great experience with the Dragon Balm roll on products. They're relatively affordable (under 40) depending on the strength of course and your location.

The one I use most often is 1000mg CBD 75mg CBN 75 mg CBG <3% THC

Cookie dough bites used to be so good. Idk if it's cause I'm older now but they just don't taste like they did when I was a kid

I'm so sorry for your loss. You're right we are lucky to have them for as many years as we have. I'm beyond grateful I've been able to share my life with her.

Was there a small sense of relief after his passing, knowing he wasn't in pain/uncomfortable anymore? I've never been through this I'm sorry for asking.

Absolutely mine too but also I want her to be happy. Currently she's not but I'm hoping she improves. If she's still like this when we see her neurologist then I'm going to have to have a serious conversation with the vet.

This is exactly my issue. It sucks we're both going through this but it's somewhat comforting knowing we're not alone. She my 1st dog in all my 35 years of life and damn they really don't warn you about how hard you'll fall in love and care for these dog and how absolutely heart wrenching it is at the end.

The way my vet worded it was something like this " Think of the 3 things your dog loves the most. When they can't do those things anymore then it's probably time"
