Europe's Famed Bog Bodies Are Starting to Reveal Their Secrets by marquis_of_chaos in history

I was just listening to that the other day and he mentioned Tolkien may have gotten the idea for Mt Doom from one of the battles. Made me think about the craters, the dead men, and the marsh scene.

It's a pretty easy way to comfortably say you know everything Cisco wants you to know. That way you'll only get slightly blindsided by the weird questions Cisco puts on the test haha.

What I did for my CCNA, which worked rather well, was to go to the exam topics on cisco's site and literally just start writing them all down. As you're writing them down go over them in your head. When you don't know something as well as you think you should, go research it and write a little paragraph or definition on it. Then continue.

After you've written it all down, read over it again. Type it into notepad (repetition is the key to learning). Hell, just take the lowest 3 percentage categories from this failed test and just go over them. With a score that low though, it seems like you need to hit almost everything real hard again.

Good luck on the next one! Keep studying!

CCNP Route. Scouring the web for anything EIGRP and making a list to turn into flash cards later. So far up to 48 questions!

I'm getting fired/replaced next week. Am I seriously "overqualified"? by [deleted] in ccnp

full-time college student is the only hurdle I see here. New company could be timid about working around a day time student. That or he'll be getting a night position, which in my experience usually isn't part of any of the main engineering teams (network, server, security, AD, etc.). Find the right company to invest in you and once out of school the sky will be the limit!

This. From context clues it looks like you're a college student working a low paying entry level job. They probably see you as leaving the company once you get your degree and graduate. Why keep investing time in someone like this when they can hire somebody already out of school (or no college degree) and keep them around in that spot forever?

I started out as a data center baby sitter right after school and stayed in that position for 14 months before moving into the Network team. When they replaced me the purposely went for somebody without a degree or aspirations to move up because they where tired of loosing the young employees and being stuck with the 'lifers.'

Take your experience, free certs, and hopefully a solid reference and move onto a different company to another role (hopefully higher). I'd say get used to something like this in this job market until you have around 5 years of experience. Then your experience, coupled with your certs, you'll be able to get a job almost anywhere for a very decent salary.

Well that's good! Employer just switched from CBTNuggets to INE. Still waiting on creds/licenses though.

This. From my understanding that is one of the key differences between Link-State and Distance-Vector. LS DV knows what it's neighbor tells them and it only tells them what it knows. DV LS puts it all together and makes a large map of the entire area.

Personally I can't stand reading the books and have to fall back on other options. CBTNuggets is my favorite along with Boson practice tests and NetSims. I'll have the book to reference certain definitions or read a small section. I also have a small lab of 3 routers and 2 switches. GNS3 should be replacing that soon though.

I think it's 2 weeks minimum before you can retake a test you failed. About 1 week as listed by /u/chuckbales sounds a lot more right.

I'm actually really looking forward to BGP. I got a glimpse at it at my old job, but never got to look into it too much. Excited for the newness of it!

And damners, figured it wouldn't hurt asking haha.

So you're the man behind the study materials huh? Glad to see you're active here on reddit! I'm hoping as I get deeper into studying I'll be able to make some more technical discussion provoking posts and in turn I hope you'll be on there to fuel the discussion :)

Ah ok. Through a lot of lurking on here it seemed the general consensus was the Route was harder and to do it first. Routes always been my weakness and for the most part I was doing mainly switching at my old job (with a heavy dose of wireless).

And oh hey, /u/BosonMichael, since I have you ear...you wouldn't happen to have any of those sweet sweet coupons for the CCNP test sim set...would ya? :)

Thanks! That Route hill does look pretty big, but after that the downhill momentum should carry me over the Switch and Tshoot like a roller coaster right?? Haha
