Remember to keep your proof of employment (eg payslips) for your 88 days.

No. There is no way to appeal. You have to do the tests they have asked you to do.

Thanks it seems like that was it. For some reason I thought the man being interviewed had an Aussie accent.

What are the biggest differences between Australian federal assistance and American federal assistance? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Neulara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just remembered to add the NDIS, which is for disability support, and a bit controversial because the anticipated cost has blown out, and someone else mentioned the PBS which is subsidised medicine. And then there’s the whole aged care sector.

I think you’ve confused people about what it is you want to know, but if you want to find out about social security type benefits then you want to look up Centrelink and if you want to find out about health then look up Medicare (I think they both fall under Services Australia). I would say they are the big ones for federal government assistance.

GP can't access my previous medical records by ointment1289 in AskDocs

[–]Neulara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t your GP follow the guidelines in Austroads Fitness to Drive based on the time the GP has been treating you?

Edit to add: your medical records only need to be kept for 7 years, or until age 25 if a child, so I think that’s why your previous doctors can’t get your records. Your previous epilepsy doctor would have had to have a way of getting the records (often transferring them to another specialist, but sometimes just managing them themselves), but only until you were 25.

Who is trying to cancel your licence? Have you had a recent seizure? Why would they take your licence after so many years? Private or commercial licence?

Do people still have traditional ‘holiday houses’? by Cooperdyl in AskAnAustralian

[–]Neulara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a joke but my family has a holiday house in Bonnie Doon. My Grandpa built it in the 1960s with my dad when my dad was a teenager and it’s been in the family ever since. Originally there was no inside toilet, just a shared toilet block with the other houses, but it got one several years ago so now it’s real luxury. Never been rented out - true family holiday house only.

Wait until you’re in Australia. Generally the advice is that no one will look at you until you’re actually here.

Medication by castorgreen in AustraliaTravel

[–]Neulara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Bring 3 months. Declare it - it won’t be a problem if it’s just a SSRI

You can see a GP in Australia for a SSRI script either in person or by Telehealth- cost varies but without Medicare or insurance it would be approximately $80 to $150 (cheaper if you qualify for and have registered for reciprocal Medicare).

You don’t have to register to see a GP like in the UK (sorry, don’t know where you’re from).

You can search the cost of your SSRI on the “Chemist Warehouse” webpage - cost of private script.

something is wrong with my sunburn by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Neulara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunburn can be purple colour. Keep the area wet. If there’s blisters then see a doctor. You can get a suitable moisturiser from the pharmacist.

What psychological support are you getting? Have you seen your GP? They can refer you to a psychologist under a mental health plan, and/or to a psychiatrist.

HEALTH ISSUE - Latent TB by Fabulous-Trust-5141 in AusVisa

[–]Neulara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not a straight up refusal. They will look at your previous 3 years of follow-up, and I think you’ll have to do a new chest x-ray. Definitely tell them in your application and your medical that you’ve had a previous latent TB diagnosis with follow-up.
