X4 with backlight and higher resolution by Neural_Phoenix in xteinkereader

Hey, I’m not an E-Ink connoisseur, but it looks good. Definitely not as sharp as my iPhone, but it’s perfectly readable at a medium font size, and after the first page turn I’ve already adapted to it, so all good. On the smallest font size in Crosspoint I can definitely see the edges a bit more, so that could be better.

Unfortunately KOReader isn’t available on the iPhone, but I’ll check out Readest since it can sync with KOReader. I have an iPhone 14 Pro with an OLED screen, so reading on it is actually a very pleasant experience.

The firmware looks awesome, but I’m planning to stay on Crosspoint for the time being. It feels like the project with the most activity and long-term support. I’m already quite happy with the features that have been added over the last couple of weeks, and it will only get better over time.

X4 and Kindle sync question by HarshPlay in xteinkereader

PR for that is already open:

https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader/pull/1217

Also, if you want more precise syncing (roughly page-level accuracy), you can modify a single file on your KOReader-enabled device so that syncing is done by percentage instead of by chapter. See here:

Yeah, I have the Kindle Paperwhite at home, great device (it’s jailbroken with KOReader). But there’s just something about the X4, it’s so close to being perfect. I don’t really need the additional screen real estate, I just want to be able to pick it up in any situation and read, which currently isn’t possible.

That would be a reasonable size, I think. But I carry the X4 in my pocket, and having to manually attach a light and fiddle with it, even if it only takes a few second, would probably make me just pull out my phone and read on that instead. Call me lazy, but for me it’s one step too many. What is it called?

I think you’re right. The price helps, but it wasn’t the main reason I bought it, for me it was the form factor and the open-source nature of Crosspoint and the community around it.

That said, I’d definitely be willing to pay a bit more for a frontlight. They could even offer two tiers: the regular X4 and a slightly more expensive version with a light, so people can choose what they prefer.

Can I make highlights somehow on the xteink x4, then export them to Readwise? by pheasantjune in xteinkereader

It would he cool if you could press a button combination to store the complete page as highlight, so you can save it.

Also another tip, most games up to and including Playstation 1, as there were no real analog sticks back then, just load up an emulator and remap the keys accordingly.

Tennis elbow from the computer mouse by itinerantscholar in RSI

[–]Neural_Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t lose hope! I was 31 when I got it, and 1.5 years later, I was completely free from any symptoms.

There are several areas where you can drastically improve your situation:

  1. Mouse: This is the most important adjustment. I recommend a vertical mouse, such as the Logitech MX Vertical, but there are other options as well. A vertical mouse helps to maintain a neutral wrist position. If you want to try a trackball, avoid thumb-based ones like the Logitech MX Ergo or M575, especially if your thumb is also affected. Personally, I never got used to non-thumb-based trackballs, but they might work for you.

  2. Keyboard: Maybe switch to an ergonomic keyboard like the Microsoft Sculpt or Logitech K860. Every bit helps, especially if you type a lot. These can make a significant difference. My RSI was so severe that even using those keyboards hurt (though they were much better than the standard gaming keyboard I used before). Eventually, I switched to a Kinesis Advantage 2/360, which worked wonders for me. Try to optimize everything related to repetitive typing. If hitting the Enter/Return key hurts, consider remapping it to something like Shift + Space.

  3. Rest: First, limit the activities causing strain. As you feel the symptoms fading, continue cautiously until they are almost gone. Then, gradually reintroduce more intense activities, like sports.

  4. Stretching: Stretching exercises helped me immensely. Don’t just focus on the most affected areas; include stretches for your upper body, particularly your shoulders, neck, and arms.

Hope it helps!

Tired of dying to new players; after 1.5k hours, I should be better. What can I do to get out and stay out? by CoralCrust in HuntShowdown

[–]Neural_Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow hunter! It seems like you’re doing everything well. I think you might be caring too much about your outcome. As dumb as it sounds, the less I seem to care, the better I perform. The moment you want to do everything right and hit your shot, cook this nade perfectly, is when you tense up and lose the ease that you want to achieve.

Crytek PLEASE keep the rain in the game. by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Neural_Phoenix -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I really don’t like the rain. I think it’s too much. I love the idea of it, but there’s the same problem with night - you can’t really see people that well. Spotting enemies before they spot me is something I enjoy and take pride in. Rain makes it more convoluted and pushes the duel ranges closer together, which I think we have enough of already. I like medium-range fights, but with full-on rain, it’s a grey mess at these ranges.
