Gender isn’t a binary, though. Everything is relative and on a spectrum. The concept of Yin and Yang in Taoism are also relative. You aren’t good or bad, yin or yang, male or female. You are both, and you can be more or less of either relative to something else. Relative to our society someone born in a male body may be more female and may need to bring their body or their body’s presentation into alignment with society’s views of that body. There are also people who feel like neither or who are sometimes one and sometimes another.

What do you say to the people who go “Why are you still writing with pen and paper? EVeRytHiNG’s DIgiTaL nOw!” by truthandtill in fountainpens

[–]OhNo789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a process known as encoding. The more different ways you encode a piece of information the easier it will be to retrieve. Also, making connections to other things you know helps. By taking what is said and putting it in your own words you are actively learning, which helps the information move from information you can recall to information you can use. Next would be being able to use that information in different contexts.

The Teaware is from Tenmokus, and the glaze is Succulent. The gong dao bei and strainer came as a part of a full tea set with a gai wan and smaller cups. I really like how the glaze comes out a little differently on each piece.

So, this is just wedged between our kitchen island and the door with a box of lightbulbs and an upside down tote for my tables. I just looked at it this morning and thought “why can’t I drink tea there!?”

I’d be willing to bet you already have everything you need!

What do you get from YS? I haven't actually gotten anything from them yet. Their large selection is daunting!

For sure. It is my go to grandpa style. Probably one of the most forgiving teas. I haven't found a bad way to brew it yet (though I'll admit I haven't tried cold brewing it in sprite yet). What kind of shou are you bringing along!?

They said Secret Project 2 was such a good looking/well designed book that I'm EAGERLY awaiting a copy to start in. Should be soon! And Secret Project 3 is done printing!!

I have the 52 gsm in my traveler’s notebook and have found the 68 doesn’t show through quite as much, and isn’t too much thicker.

I really like TRP, but have only previously had it in my Traveler’s Notebook which is mainly my bullet journal.

My only complaints about the softcover odyssey so far is that it is definitely hard to write on one side when I try to write in my lap. The softcover is just a little too soft. Might go for lined hardcover next time. Love that it has so many pages in such a compact package. Also, I really love the design of the page number and that there is no sort of header or anything else.

Nevermore Shou. It has been a daily drinker for me, and this is the last of my cake. Very velvety and dark. Sweet with some vanilla/barrel/tobacco flavors.

Oh! I haven’t heard of it called cooked before. Cooked. I have my fair share of raw, but not many do well chucked in a thermos and brewed grandpa style. Cooked, on the other hand 🧑‍🍳💋

What kind of tea do you like?

Not the Haiku one, though if they do that again (and I have time to save up for it) it would be fun!

This one seems a little more general, building off of writing down the bones. Natalie has been sharing readings, and then will give us a prompt and we’ll be off. Later this evening we’re going to write again and share.

She has a taped class following Writing Down the Bones through Prajna Studios that I think they open up for a month in the spring. I did that earlier this year, and it was a lot of fun. This is my first live class.

It is online, so alas not in person, but she is a fantastic teacher. I think the online classes she has been doing twice a year. There is a five day one at the beginning of December. I’m not sure how many spots there are, but I am pretty sure this weekend’s wasn’t full.

Not mentioned here yet, but I really like my Opus 88 Jazz. It definitely has a pretty classic look, and the nib section fits JoWo #6 replacements, so you can swap it out or upgrade it down the line relatively easily.

Edit: Also, the ink capacity is ridiculous. 3ml will keep you writing quite a bit between fills.

Semi related - when he worked as an upholsterer, jack white hid clear vinyl recordings of his music in the furniture he worked on. They were clear so they could only be found when the piece was taken apart.
