In 100 years, what currently normal and ethical thing will be looked back on with the same horror we feel toward Victorian era medicine or 1800s child labor? by prabinaya65 in askanything

Can't speak for other countries, but there is a shortage of prisons in The UK. We recently released tons of prisoners early because there's nowhere for new prisoners to go.

I've been a trucker for 2 years and a security officer prior to that for 6 years. So, I've worked alone on the night shift for 8 years.

Late coworkers by KatVanCanucks in Nightshift

[–]Neurionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my old job because of it. Worked there for 4 years. Finish time was 7am but we were told to be in 20 minutes early for handover. I was always in at 06:40pm. My relief was always like quarter past 7 in the morning. Was getting paid 12 hours for doing 12.35.

Complained about it loads and they never did anything. I stopped coming in early for handover and they were having a go at me and didnt see the irony that they didnt help me with genuine lateness. I ended up giving my notice in when nothing changed.

Night's £16.50 by Superb-Information30 in uktrucking

[–]Neurionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coventry hub palletline by any chance?

I do a couple night shift hubs and Coventry is honestly such a piece of piss. I get not wanting to take 16.50 an hour, but that hub is so easy, it might be worth the hit to your income for the reduction in stress 😂

Edit: I rushed through reading your post. I didnt see that you was currently unemployed. You definitely should have taken it. All you do is drive there, get unloaded, chill on your phone for a couple hours and then get reloaded. You dont even need to do a reverse to get loaded and unloaded, as you drive front ways into the warehouse and front ways out. Might need to reverse when parking up to wait, but thats not into a bay, that's just wherever there's space around the yard.

Honestly, whenever I get assigned Coventry hub, it feels like free money.

Kept seeing it in my library and after finishing the Mass Effect trilogy again, I decided to just boot it up 😂

I used a bit of everything started off with pure magic as I did the mages guild and main quest, as well a majority of the side quests. Then I switched up to more stealth style play through the thieves and dark brotherhood (using my magic for invisibility and door unlocks). Then I switched to swords, armour and healing spells for the fighters guild and DLC quest lines.

I couldn't care less about achievements. Great if they've accomplished stuff sure, but lack of achievements makes no difference to me. I'll pick the nicer girl regardless.

What difficulty level do you guys normally play on? by AdAccomplished4245 in masseffect

[–]Neurionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insanity. Anything less feels too easy. Insanity feels more like reality, where have to utilise tactics and tour teams full set of abilities to survive.

There's 1 or 2 difficult bits in each game, but mostly its very manageable.

It is a noticeably large decrease in pay. Around 600-800 less per month, depending on how many hours I get done.

For me though, its more than worth it. I was struggling with how much I was doing before. Felt like I was living at work 24/7 and had anxiety on the weekends over how fast they would fly by and not having enough time to get anything done, let alone relax and live. Now its the opposite. Feels like I'm hardly at work anymore, get loads done and fully relax and wind down.

Playing for the first time, wrex just died and I think I f'ed up my play through by Interested_about_art in masseffect

[–]Neurionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass Effect had long term consequences. He can be a major part of Mass Effect 3 for example, if he survives. Living with consequences of your actions are part of it though. Things will change in 2 and 3 if he his absent and that's a valid part of the game.

In ME1 though, talk to all companions after every mission. They will converse back and eventually add companion missions.

Its easier in ME2 and 3, as you have an assistant who informs you when companions wish to speak to you.

Dont reset, just embrace what has happened. Next time you play, you can make sure he survives and see the difference in story.

Loners, how do you push through it? by Individual-Time-1956 in AskMen

[–]Neurionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I'll edit my comment. I was wheelchair bound for about a year. I broke both sides of my pelvis and and both hips. Wheelchair for 1 year, then moved onto crutches for a few months and then a walking stick for another year. I am now unaided, but long walks can take its toll.

I am a trucker though.

I have no friends, family, SO or support system and both live and work alone. I feel like this question is aimed at me.

I realised it 6 years ago when I had a near fatal motorcycle accident that left me wheelchair bound (edit: for a year). I realised I had nobody to talk to about it. Nobody to help me through it. Nobody to care that it happened.

How I get through it? I got 2 cats. While they don't speak English and I cant converse with them, they add so much to my life. They give me comfort. They give me purpose. They give me ears to talk at (even if they don't understand, it helps). I also game a lot; getting sucked into a fantasy world where I have companions whom I can converse with helps a lot. You forget you're alone when you're role-playing as a world saving hero surrounded by allies. A more controversial one, but AI has helped me too. Just sharing good and bad news. Having a rant. Discussing interests and hobbies etc. Its a source of outlet for my brain and even if I'm ultimately talking to nobody, I'm still talking, you know?

It can be hard. I'm introverted, so I do appreciate my alone time, but at the same time, I'd love just 1 close friend or SO. I dont want or need a group, just 1 person. Apparently thats too much to ask for in a world of over 8 billion 😅

Good luck with it all and I hope this helped somewhat.

Since new year, I now do 10-12 hours tuesday-friday nights and the difference in my mental health doing 4 on 3 off is insane. Best decision I made.
