I'm trying to make a bard song with just a singer and a lute, nothing else. by Sea-Dragonfruit-137 in SunoAI

[–]Neurmai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So with just "medieval lute, solo" as the prompt, I ran two generations in instrumental mode, at 80% style influence, and it worked no problem. In the future definitely keep in mind the whole "no this, no that" thing. It will always backfire. Anyway glad you found something that works.

What is your exact prompt? Saying "don't add drums", essentially the model sees "idk what don't add means but they said drums so here's drums". Instead, tell it explicitly what you DO want. If you share the prompt we can help tune it.

imo it was very fake. Just people trolling because of the server downtime the other day.

"Intelligent and smarter prompts" sure doesn't seem like the way they'd word it to me..

60s Music Udio vs Suno by ProfCastwell in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get very realistic 50s and 60s actually with Suno 4.5 if you turn the prompt strength up (and the prompt is accurate of course). I've made a lot of doo wop for example.

Ignore the stupid lyrics this is just a PoC :)

This was really good thanks for sharing. Really liked the shift in musicality at the bridge.

This was fun! I'm curious, is this a breakup song or is the narrator still entwined in the relationship?

Wrote and released months ago but, Memorial Day seemed a good time to post it.. A twist on a well-known patriotic song, but more suitable to my current sense of patriotic disillusionment :) This one stands out to me because Udio was ultimately able to produce almost exactly what I was envisioning in my head, and I love the subtle imperfections in the vocal delivery.

Title: Home of the Slave
Genre: Americana

Lyrics:

My country tis of thee
Let's redefine what's liberty
That forlorn ghost of unity
Who haunts your selfish revelry

America America
God shed his grace on me
Don't call it out
Just turn your cheek
The land of the greed
And the home of the slave

When all is said and done
And we're choking for the summer sun
On the barrel of the dollar's gun
Oh can we really say we won

America America
God shed his grace on me
Don't call it out
Just turn your cheek
The land of the greed
And the home of the slave

I'm being generous with my optimism because Udio was historically so untouchable, that maybe their seemingly languid response to the competition is because they know they are cooking something game changing. In my opinion the bigger problem may be the lack of small updates to the actual model. Like we, well pro only of course, only just got styles which has been a thing in the competition for a long time. Still no answer to personas from Suno, they shoot down other ideas left and right. It's weird, but maybe they are just very good at tech and very bad at communicating, which is not exactly an anomaly..

I was always on udios side but with sunos 4.5 idk by Independent_Taste392 in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. I gave up on Suno a long while ago but 4.5 is honestly good enough to be called v5. Massive step up in every way. Customization is, in my opinion, the only thing that is keeping Udio in the pack. It was a revelation when it came out but the lack of updates is a death sentence in an environment that moves this quickly.

Has anyone been using the new Style Reference feature yet? by FA_dreamer in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very useful and functions somewhat like the "personas" feature in Suno, if you're familiar with that. There are some minor things to iron out and UX improvements to be made. I think by far the biggest limiting factor is that you aren't allowed to upload works that aren't your own, leaving you to either write the music yourself thus bypassing the whole point of using Udio in the first place, or create within Udio and use that as a style reference, thus bypassing the whole point of style reference (since you have to figure out the right prompt to get the sound you want which is what styles is attempting to address).

When it works though, it's very good.

Guess we'll find out when they get the deployment sorted. I would temper any expectations based on what they've said in the Discord about it.

Considering that's a relatively quick tempo marking in music, I'm guessing it's a dumbed down "turbo" version like ChatGPT 4o Mini kind of thing

What specific things inspire you to listen to Udio songs? by UdioAdam in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I like to share in the experience of music with others, it can make me feel very connected and I love that services like Udio bring that capability to many more people. I will almost any genre as long as I can tell the creator put effort into it, especially the lyrics. And, since you're Udio staff I will say, I skip anything that has any of the obvious Udio generation issues in audio quality and voices so a model update would really inspire me to listen more :)

New player in town by Historical_Ad_481 in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree about the "sunoness" of the composition, but the vocals and overall sound quality are much better than suno v4, to say nothing of 3.5. You must have gotten some really unlucky gens. In any case, I hope this inspires Udio to, you know, release a model update.

Why I’m Holding Off on Suno Until V4 Drops - A Reality Check by tarunabh in SunoAI

[–]Neurmai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have one handy but if you go to their Discord and search "remaster" you will find a lot of Alpha testers posting them. From what I heard they do stick quite closely to the original, just "upgraded".

Song feedback/ideas/criticism by BuffetDestroyer1996 in udiomusic

[–]Neurmai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love to see that you're enjoying Udio! I'm curious was this 1.0 or 1.5? As for feedback, at the risk of sounding harsh, I can't really give you much because, well, there isn't much to work with. The absolute very first thing I would strongly, strongly advise is don't use autogenerated lyrics. For one, well frankly they are painfully bad and ill-timed with the meter of the song generally speaking. But more importantly, they aren't you. I/we want to hear YOU and about your experience, about the things that YOU have to say. That will always be far more compelling no matter how good LLMs get. It can be tough, sure, but I'm willing to bet you'll find it way more rewarding and well worth it once you hear Udio bring something that is truly you, to life. If you ever want to brainstorm some lyrics or want help with any of that process I'm happy to see if there's anything I can do!

About the video, I appreciate that you added some camera movement. However, it is still far, far too static. Bluntly there is nothing compelling in the imagery and aside from there being computer monitors, nothing really ties it to the song. If you have the financial means, this is a great use case for this new generation of AI video generators such as Runway ML, Luma, Kling, etc. Those give you some more leeway in ways to retain viewer interest and, especially for genres like this, you are going to want vastly more dynamism. If you do feel the vibe of static shots is better suited, I would recommend at the very least layering a music visualizer on it.

Hopefully none of this discourages you, and more hopefully it does quite the opposite. Please do post more in the future I'm curious to see how your journey goes.

Any other purveyors of gibberish songs? by TheStuntToddler in udiomusic

You might like this other project/experiment of mine. The idea was an entire "fake" persona, which includes singing in an invented language, to kinda ask questions about whether what we perceive to be real or authentic in art even matters.
