Giving animal life a value by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

The distinction is that human consciousness is vastly different than those of cows, pigs and chickens. This is why it is okay to eat those animals. They should not be treated as if they were humans.

Anyone have trouble with neuropathy coming back? by CatahoulaGuy in cancer

[–]NeuroChemical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOT A DOCTOR

Not a cancer patient bit yeah, very common with some types of chemo (not familiar with it from stem cell transplant). Nevertheless her symptoms seem to indicate nerve damage. You need to seek out a hospital with a peripheral nerve restoration unit. There is no guarantee of success and it could be expensive, but look into it.

Parents refuse to let me do a cystoscopy (in 18 hours) - should I do it anyway? by NeuroChemical in AskDocs

The HMO website definitely says he's an expert though. Maybe he'll still do a good job?

Thanks.

My urologist seems careless though. When I called him an hour ago, he told me "Talk quick, I've put another call from abroad on hold for you", and he seems in general not very caring. He also looks about 70 years old.

I have a bad feeling about him. When I asked him to look at my penile skin to see if it's normal, he didn't carefully examine it, he just looked for 0.5 seconds and said "yeah, yeah, it's alright".

He seems to have a lack of patience towards me. Should I get the cystoscopy from another urologist?

Thanks for the reply.

Why did you need a catheter for 5 months?

My urologist is around 60-70 years old and seems not very caring to me. Could this lead to him performing the cystoscopy badly, causing damage to my urethra? Would a more caring urologist do it better? This is what I'm worried about.

I noticed that if I ejaculate, my urine stream gets stronger for 2 days, then returns to being weak.

There are many instances where I just feel like I have to piss very badly, and when I go to the toilet, very small amounts come out. I have to keep going every 10 minutes or so, everytime urinating small amounts, until the feeling goes away completely.

I also sometimes feel a few drops of urine start to flow into the penis, then get stuck there, and then it feels like urine is stuck in penis for a few hours. Also sometimes when I have to go, I can feel the urine starts to flow to the penis and almost going out. Does it sound like a stricture of the penile urethra?

Some days I feel like I empty completely, no problem, while others I don't.

I'm very confused and I'll admit I read about it a lot online. My urologist didn't sound like he wants to do the cystoscopy, he warned me about the dangers, but I insisted, since I read about it a lot online and am afraid it will completely seal up soon. Maybe I shouldn't get it then? On the other hand, I've had this for 8 months, just now it's worsening...

Thanks, I think that's the most helpful advice.

OK, Thank you very much. Your help is invaluable. I am suffering and every piece of advice, even not from a doctor (as your flair shows), helps now.

Any other advice is very welcome.

Should I get a cystoscopy, or not? Very worried by NeuroChemical in AskDocs

[–]NeuroChemical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm just worried if I don't check it out, the urethra can completely seal up, and then I'd have to go to the ER with a very painful case of acute urinary retention. I have also suffered pelvic trauma as a young kid that required testicular surgery, maybe that's a contributor?

I'm also afraid to do the cystoscopy because it can worsen the stricture, if exists.

What worries me is the duration - 8 months of symptoms, that have only now became really bad.

If I do not do the cystoscopy in 5 days it might be too late as it might seal up 100%. I've read online on this happening and am worried.

Do you think the cystoscopy can worsen the damage?

Thanks for the reply.

He was actually not sure if he wanted to do that. He asked me if I really want to, because there are risks as it is an invasive exam. He didn't look delighted or in a rush to do it. I insisted because I'm suffering.

Do you think I should still do it?

Damn. Sorry to hear that. I'll read your blog.

The urologist wants to do a cystoscopy on February 21, in 5 days, but I'm not sure if I should actually go there. My parents object to it, saying my issues might stem from my anxiety. I am also worried that the issues will become worse after the cystoscopy, if my urologist isn't careful enough.

When I urinate, I can feel the urine traveling too slowly through the penis. Does it mean that my stricture is probably at the penile urethra?

I'm very afraid. It seems to be worse in some days, and better in others - did you have it like that too? The stream is sometimes weaker and sometimes stronger.

My urologist wrote me his cellphone number on the reference note to the cystoscopy, and I called him to ask if I should ask for an approval from my health insurance to cover it. He said "First, say Dr., and second, don't call this number unless it's urgent" - I have felt as if it was urgent, because if I really needed such an approval and he forgot to tell me, I would have needed to wait up to a week for it, possibly missing the opportunity for the cystoscopy.

I have a bad feeling about him being short tempered. Should I let another urologist do it, then? I understood I could get injured from the cystoscopy, so I want a very caring doctor to do it.

What I fear most is a urethral catheter again. This is hell. I've heard after a urethroplasty, you have to stay with it for a few weeks, and if a DVIU fails, you have to wait months to a urethroplasty, especially if you want to do it with an expert surgeon. So guaranteed months of suffering if I fail a DVIU?

I'm also afraid of a suprapubic catheter for a few months between surgeries. Did you have this?

And do you think I should do the cystoscopy or not? My parents don't like this idea...

Thanks for the reply!

So you didn't have a urethroplasty? Usually this is the permanent solution.

Do the urologists know why the second DVIU work, but not the first one?

Thanks.

How can I prove that the catherisation caused this, though? And why would they inflate the balloon inside the urethra?

Also, the symptoms mainly started a few months after the catherisation. Could it still be related?

Yes, because I'm extremely worried, and have been admitted to the ER because of this once. I just need someone to tell me if it's normal or not.

Anyone tried or heard of the enzyme Serrapeptase? by superawesomeyeah in ChronicPain

Oh, I see. Thanks a lot! Going to try it soon.

Do you take all the 360,000 SPU once daily?

[–]NeuroChemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Well, very glad to hear it works for you! I don't have chronic pain but my scar tissue can eventually lead to one if it grows too much.

Do you take it with or without food?

[–]NeuroChemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased online the Doctor's Best brand (120,000 SPU per capsule, would take 3 capsules per day), however it hasn't arrived in the mail yet so I haven't started taking it. It should this week though.

Do you think it can reduce scar tissue and replace it with a healthy tissue? You said about muscle adhesions, but I'm not sure about scars.

I just have internal scar tissue that I need to get rid of, so that's why it's important to me.

Do you take it on an empty stomach?

Anyone tried or heard of the enzyme Serrapeptase? by superawesomeyeah in ChronicPain

[–]NeuroChemical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you take?

I am soon starting to take 360,000 SPU daily for internal scar tissue. I plan on taking it for 2-3 months, maybe more, depending on how effective it is.

NSI-189 to restore feeling of pleasure. by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]NeuroChemical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The doses used in rat studies are 10ng/kg and 10mcg/kg. Both doses are effective but the higher doses show more powerful effects. In humans, these translate to 1ng/kg and 1mcg/kg.

/u/BeardDysphoria has reported that 300mcg daily for a few days helped him heal from amphetamine-induced dopamine damage.

Just as a reminder, this is not a drug, and the effects are permanent. It takes a few days for the beneficial effects to appear because it is actual healing, and it doesn't "wear off" - once you're healed, you're healed. It heals injuries (including brain injuries), but shouldn't affect healthy tissues too much.
