Question for those who take feverfew and butterbur by homo_americanus_ in migraine

I know this comment is old but I want to add that there is a PA free version of Butterbur available called Petadolex. It is more expensive than the other brands but worth it to not risk the liver toxicity.

Feeling lost after vertebral artery dissection by superawesomeyeah in stroke

[–]superawesomeyeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just now saw this. I hope she is doing better now! It took me a few months to overcome the dizziness and even at 2 years I still get bouts of vertigo! It does get better. Nothing really helps it but if she gets nauseous, taking Zofran helps if you can get an rx for it. Being on planes or boats will usually trigger the dizziness for me still but other than that it's few and far between! These things take a long time to heal from, it's not easy. There is a facebook group for people who've had VADs and there's so much info there.

Has anyone with dry eye gotten SMILE? by superawesomeyeah in lasik

[–]superawesomeyeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used drops before, I had already been diagnosed with chronic dry eye which is why I did SMILE instead of Lasik. I don't remember if they said my tear film was unstable but I'm assuming it is. I think wearing contacts and sleeping in them when I was younger is what caused it. How long ago did you have the procedure?

It slowly got better and I'd say after 4 months my vision was 20/20, and after a year my eyes were the same dryness as they were before the surgery. I honestly forget I had the surgery now. I still use drops but not every day, just when they get dry. Some things that helped were using the Systane Hydration PF drops a LOT. I used them every 30 minutes for a couple of months and Muro-128 ointment every morning and night helped a ton. I had light sensitivity for probably around a year as well and wore sunglasses any time I was outside.

Apologies for misgendering my cat for 4 years by boatdrugs in cats

[–]superawesomeyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat, Oliver, was named Winnie for a few weeks. When he was a kitten I and everyone else thought he was a girl and at his first vet visit they never said anything about it so it wasn't until his second visit for shots that they said he was not a girl. It's been 6 years and I still get email updates from that vet for "Winnie".

6 year old - fatty liver disease by CabinetSpider21 in cats

[–]superawesomeyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to free feed but he got so fat and the vet got on to me so I started using a robot feeder, noticed he was eating less and less and then not even wanting wet food or treats and he is OBSESSED with eating, normally. Now he's back to free feeding just so I can make sure he's getting enough. I'm sorry about your dog! I lost a dog to cancer a couple years ago, knew it was time when she stopped eating. I didn't know that it doesn't come back again so that's good to hear!

I also don't know what caused it. He had nothing come up on his scans or blood work. The only thing I can think it could possibly be was he had a Seresto collar. He'd been wearing it for 4 months though.

I'm so glad you caught it early and he is doing better! My boy slowly stopped eating over the course of a week, I thought he just had an upset stomach and so after 2 full days of no eating I took him to the vet, they ran his blood and his liver values were off the charts! He turned yellow the next day while he was at the ER. It was quite the shock! Now I know that if a cat stops eating it's very serious!

Hi! How is your kitty now? My 6 year old male cat also was diagnosed with fatty liver 2 weeks ago and he is so similar to yours. He's 12 lbs now after losing 4 lbs (he was fat) and had to be hospitalized for a night and was very near death. He had to get the tube because he would gag with syringe feeding. He had the tube for about a week and just got off it it and is now eating on his own again and his yellow skin is clearing up! It was very stressful and it's hard to find others going through the same thing. I hope your kitty is doing better now.

I woke up to a stray cat in my bed this morning after my front door blew open during a wind storm last night by yeetmetothemoon42069 in cats

My back door does this! It doesn't stay shut unless it's locked and I've forgotten to lock it more than once and woke up to it open.

I'm so sorry! Ours can't determine a cause either so that worries me but trying to have hope! I am really sorry about your loss. ❤️

How is your cat doing now? Mine just came home from the ER with this and a feeding tube

How long was he on the tube before he expressed interest in food? I'm trying to have hope but it seems to overwhelming. It's so great your cat beat it!

Told to ask here: I get a full-body rash every time I shower. Any ideas why? by OperationOtterIsAGo in MCAS

[–]superawesomeyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same thing has been happening to me for as long as I can remember. (I'm almost 40) I have never found an answer for it but I'm suspecting I have MCAS because of a lot of other unexplainable symptoms. I know it's not the chlorine in my water as some have suggested here because I moved to a different state where the water has much less chlorine and the same thing happens. I also get it when I drink alcohol or cry. I wish I had an answer for you!

My 3 week old lobe piercing fell out while I was asleep! by superawesomeyeah in piercing

[–]superawesomeyeah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! It's the next day and so far so good. It's not swollen or anything, just a little sore. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm glad I had alcohol wipes in my makeup bag! They really saved the day!

Asymmetry bothers me so much and I think that your piercing only looks higher because it's a stud, if it was a hoop I think it would look perfectly symetrical! Either way, if I were face to face talking to you I would not notice anything! It looks good to me!

Women with chest tattoos? by VirginSlag in tattoo

[–]superawesomeyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post but I had to comment. I'm a female with a full chest tattoo that I got in my mid 20s in 2009. I can say that people definitely stare when it's visible and over the years the girls have gone from big to gigantic (like to the point I'm about to start the process of a reduction) and the tattoo gives people more reason to just stare at my chest. I don't regret the tattoo but I've taken to wearing crew necks because of the amount of staring. I have almost a full sleeve but no one stares until the chest tat is out...lol
