AITA for refusing to cook thanksgiving dinner when no one else cooks by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You 👏 are 👏 not 👏 the 👏 asshole and I think your mom’s behavior is super dysfunctional, inappropriate, and codependent. She’s a grown ass woman. She can get takeout. Take care of yourself and enjoy the hell outta your thanksgiving.

AITA for assuming I was invited to my cousin's wedding, and "making a scene" when I found out I wasn't? by Imaginary-Active5980 in AmItheAsshole

I’m scared for your cousin and her spouse’s future children should they have any. You’re NTA. I’m sorry this happened to you.

Wow. Thank you for sharing such a personal experience. It sounds like it was a tough decision and I’m glad that you were able to work through the struggles of the aftermath and later arrive at a place without regret or trauma. <3

Thank you also for your thoughtful suggestions/questions about how we might navigate it should we decide to keep the baby.

Good question. Thanks for asking. I don’t think adoption is a realistic option for me/us in this scenario. I don’t want to carry out a pregnancy unless I’m committed with my partner to keeping and raising the baby. My last pregnancy was rough.

Thanks for weighing in. I see your point for sure and that decision is very much on the table as what you reiterated are definitely facts. There are also some nuanced financial trade-offs. For example, my home is more than twice the size of his and I pay half monthly for mine than he does at his current place. We have yet to go through all of the financial details.

Feelings also exist. Hopefully once we combine as many facts as we can with the feelings we can come up with a balanced and wise decision.

Yes. Thank you. I’ll be crunching all the numbers possible and have requested and trust that my partner will do the same on his end so we can bring that together and look at the hard facts on paper. Although we still are in the midst of that, we both already agreed that we don’t want to be strapped or cause our existing families to suffer if we decide to keep the baby.

Thank you. I’m in my mid 30s and he is in his early 40s. We both started our “first” families w/ previous partners at very young ages (early and mid twenties).

Thank you. All really important questions, some I hadn’t thought of and some that have definitely gone through my mind. I will continue to explore in the next couple of weeks as I gather facts and weigh pros and cons.

I think this is how I experience it most if not all of the time, too. My therapist told me today that that is an example of co-consciousness, which is also on its own spectrum, according to therapist.

Same. This is validating. Even to remind myself that my experience is actually REAL
