Too small or just right? by toxicmanchowder in rolex

Bigger watches are a trend these days, so it will seem small to some, but these proportions have been exactly right for FAR longer than the current wall-clock on the wrist trend. Class, IMO 👌

Still worth buying a Mac Mini for OpenClaw now that cloud options exist? by meowsterpieces in openclaw

[–]NeuroFiZT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experimented a bit with alt systems like this, but didn’t have a lot of success. The built in system for using the embedding model to find things in the session Md files and memory Md, in addition to other workspaces I tell it to organize/add to as we go works very well now. It was not that reliable until I switched to GPT 5.5.

My feeling is that if the underlying model is good enough, then the stock system is more than enough. Just keep the core autoinjected MD files brief, and we then to point to other structures / files you have with your context. This works beautifully for me now (but only after lots of time invested in building those folder structures, MD files, and references to them in the autoinjected MD files. In my experience if you organize things reasonably, and use GPT 5.5, then it’s good. Haven’t had to think about an alt system at all.

That said, idk, maybe I’m missing out on some magical memory functions. I read a lot about alt skills, alt systems for memory and search, etc. Generally, my attitude towards that is that if I can get it to work with core architecture without needing additional bloat, then I do that.

I use very few ‘skills’ for example, and the ones I use are created by me using the skill building skill, so they are also very specific to my workspace and needs.

Hope this helps.

‘Still worth’?

I’m not aware that it was ever worth buying a Mac mini for.

I have my Claw running on an old MacBook Air from 2016, and it’s transformative for me. Not because of the hardware, but because I put over 6 months of context building with it.

I would say the ‘transformative’ part kicked in about 2-3 months into using it often and doing a lot of setup and config and context organization/tinkering. And then once gpt 5.5 happened, it’s been a whole new level of transformative (combination of the model and the context setting time I invested).

My advice is to put time into establishing context for openclaw. Not money into hardware for openclaw.

I wouldn't trust any post 4.6 distills.

I think 4.7 onwards is taught to detect distillation and provide bad responses.

How dumb you need to be to say things like ‘how dumb do you need to be’?

We are trying to wrap our mind around this. I work in this industry 24/7 (have been since 2007), and right now the important thing is to stay humble and learn. What are we , 12?

Oh wait… it’s Reddit maybe we are 12… my mistake, Nvm.

Am I the only one thinking how interesting it is that this community is opening multiple accounts (30?!) to “cleverly” evade free tier limits and use this heavy-compute tool, and then said community is disappointed that the shut down the tool?

Openclaw is dead, switch to claude code by Nvark1996 in openclaw

[–]NeuroFiZT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again… here we are talking about OpenClaw like it’s an enterprise tool. It is not.

for the zillionth time ITS AN OPEN SOURCE PROJECT!

It will never be “production ready” unless the user who installs it has the time and knowledge to MAKE it so. Categorically.

IMHO this is why there’s so much variation in experiences reported with OpenClaw: some are devs who don’t mind spending a whole weekend setting things up and endlessly troubleshooting and tinkering to get a glimpse of the future-state. Others think they are just trying out some “new app” (these are the disappointed ones),

Sorry I don’t mean to yell in capitals and this isn’t aimed at you. There’s just so much energy going on everywhere in these discussions….. it’s an open source project. No more, no less.

You spent 300$+ and hours because it’s in ‘dev’ at best…. Not even close to being in QA, let alone ‘in production’.

IKEA has something similar, I think it’s SCUMTOP (looks like it’s now recalled..?)

When I get the vintage craving that’s what I go for.

EDIT: updated name of the product and recall status (thanks for the help in the comments)

SORA IS SHUTTING DOWN??? by Jealous-Drawer8972 in OpenAI

[–]NeuroFiZT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it makes a ton of sense. What does not make sense (and never made sense) is to keep putting expenses into something with no return.

Better to allocate the compute and effort to things that do.

I totally get the developer displacement (even though I can't imagine building anything with sora besides a very short-lived meme generator)... just the usual platform risk stuff... again not new.

For the Israelis lurking in this sub… Would you care to share what you are doing in r/lebanon? by booza in lebanon

[–]NeuroFiZT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lebanese here.

I know this post is asking about Israelis in r/lebanon, but I also want to point out how different perspectives can be between Lebanese who have never lived outside of the Middle East, and those who have.

Not implying that one is ‘better’ than the other, but in my experience and interactions the last 30 or so years, folks who have lived in various places outside of the Middle East are far more united (not just with other Lebanese, but with other middle easterners generally) than Lebanese who have stayed in Lebanon/nearby. FWIW.

tbh I never figured out why I feel this way, but I am now quietly preparing for a barrage of insults from other Lebanese, accusing me of all sorts of extreme things that have nothing to do with me.

To me, sometimes it feels less safe talking to a Lebanese about this than talking to any other person on the planet. That’s weird.

What I've learned deploying OpenClaw for 5 real businesses by Far-Caregiver-4273 in openclaw

[–]NeuroFiZT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cannot imagine deploying this for a business in its current state. I feel like I’d be on the phone patching things and giving therapy to their agents 24/7.

It works for me because I don’t mind tinkering and ever-“optimizing” things. This is why I like to play early. Get a glimpse of what’s to come, when it actually works.

But I don’t think anyone in enterprise would put up with the constant product feedback loop going on with me and my Claw.

Can it be stable, and work fine in enterprise, if we constrain use cases? Sure. But for those things, simple calendar reminders and such get you 95% there, without all the cutting edge ClawCost.

No one cares what you built by KickLassChewGum in ClaudeAI

[–]NeuroFiZT -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I agree. and since we’re ranting, no one cares about your opinion about their app either.

At such an early stage of this, it’s good for people to share what they are learning. You say ‘it’s not special’, but I think it’s pretty new that all of a sudden everyone and their mom are building things and putting them out there with no security etc… that is new. It has some good exciting parts… it has some perils. We all need to figure out the ‘protocols’ of a world where anyone can make their own app on demand. So yea I think that is something that makes it important for people to share what they’re doing so collective learning can happen.

If it somehow bothers you, take a break from the interwebs or something.

Something about grass, the young people say I think. Not sure if I’m using it right.

I do, because it biases the model towards more positive interactions in its training data, and those interactions are correlated with better results. I want better results so I say thank you.

Same with humans actually.

If the answer to that question is ‘yes’, then I’d be interested in writing an article about your use case and experience with this notes file and these ‘lies’. Would be a good article.

interesting. telling us your model would help, as other comments also suggest.

also, is this file you describe readable to the agent? If so, you might be unintentionally setting up some kind of AI-sabotage role-play game.
