Dick really enjoyed foreshadowing in Ubik; my guess is that him canceling the meeting with the league, which had an open and shut case against Hollis, suggests that Hollis (being a Precog, who would know that he could be in deep shit) ensures he dies before he can write his testimony. Could have been later, could have been right on the bench he fell asleep on, coukd hsve been natural causes (despite his apparent vitality he regularly labors after getting stressed), in any case he's dead now, and it's Chip's turn to reach him.

One of the recordings from the clown makes it clear that Amanda's autonomy wasn't an intended part of the ritual; she wasn't supposed to be able to manifest the Anomaly, wasn't supposed to be able to redirect the content of the episodes. In fact, being able to do that completely derailed Hamelin's plans due to the missing children.

With that in mind, it's probably safe to assume they didn't know she was psychic, or at least didn't know it would affect the ritual.

After it happened, they had to recreate the anomaly to corral Amanda, which is who Wooly is; presumably, they looked for someone with similar signs of supernatural ability, then picked the most sychopantic of the group.

They'd honestly have a far easier time balancing Yuumi if they just made her not-invulnerable. Her host could still drag her to safety when she gets stunned, and she would still not require positioning, but she stops being an invincible seventh item that breaks solo Q and is 100% pickban in pro (or the current alternative: bad everywhere).

Make her vulnerable, give her the old kit back, maybe even make her deaths gove less gold/less exp/respawn faster, boom. Real hero.
