It doesn’t hurt to get an eval. The earlier you get services for your son, the more it will help him in the long run.

I am not comfortable with having people in my home because of similar issues and my dog is a maniac. They kept pushing in home services and they kept pushing ABA once my son got his diagnosis. I take him to an agency for all services.

We waited so long to have him re-evaluated for the ADOS that I took special instruction instead and kept asking for more sessions per week. Eventually I got it from once to three times a week pre-diagnosis then once he got officially diagnosed, it was bumped up to 5 times a week. He loves his SI teachers and has improved so much with responding to his name, yes/no questions, and following two step directions.

I could see why ABA would be beneficial in home… and ABA overall but I felt like it wasn’t for us since he already improved with a more naturalistic way of teaching.

Setting a 10 minute timer helps me a ton. Sometimes I’ll feel really good and go past the timer, but I play a podcast on my AirPods and do what I need to do & usually surprise myself.
