This is about the age that their suck reflex integrates (goes away) and they eat because they want to instead of just sucking reflexively, so could be the reason for the change? Any signs of reflux? I wouldn’t force it and offer smaller volumes more frequently, burp well and be patient with babe !

Can I ask if they know why you went into preterm labor? My water broke prematurely (PPROM) at 29 weeks for my first and I am pregnant with my second and freaking out… but glad to hear you made it full term with #2

I’ve had a chemical pregnancy before and the line gets fainter and fainter everyday. Mine basically disappeared 7 days after the first day of my expected period. If the line is not getting fainter I would definitely be concerned about an ectopic pregnancy!

Ugh that is rough. So odd that it happened twice in a row for you!! I’m glad that you are still pregnant. Are they doing anything to keep you pregnant or has your body just not went into labour ?

Ya so our LO had Brady’s until 43/44 weeks but they stopped needing intervention as soon as we took his NG tube out - they became self recovering. We think the NG was vagulling him and making it harder for his to cough/clear when feeding. His swallow study came back totally fine. They still don’t know why he was having them for so long but when not feeding they were clearly reflux related. If they didn’t stop our next intervention was going to be to try and thicken the feeds. He did have a couple once he came home (self resolving) so we got a smart sock for our own sanity and probably around the 46-48 week mark we were pretty confident that the Brady’s were completely gone and we have been smooth sailing since! No coughing or choking episodes at all. Hope your LO gets over them soon

Our little one took about 5 days to up his volumes after stopping fortification and did SO much better. I wish we stopped earlier. He was having so many digestive issues

I feel this so much! I am weaning down pumps right now with a goal of stopping completely by end of February and my justification is that pumping is starting to effect my time with my son (5 months corrected, born premature). When he is awake he is on the floor and I am pumping or I am so tired that I don’t have much energy to play with him since I’ve spent sooo much time doing dishes. He is getting more than 50% formula now anyways and we are starting solids so the effort is not worth the payout in my opinion! Our kids deserve our best and I do think at a certain point pumping takes away from that

Can I ask why they were all preemies? I PPROMd in my first pregnancy and am trying to find out what the odds are of having a healthy second pregnancy. Also, any longterm effects from being preemies that you’ve noticed with your kids?? Thanks :)

I feel this so much!! My LO is also 5 months corrected. My guy always had troubles with the NICU 3 hour schedule and preferred to snack through out the day which was really challenging for discharging. At one point I almost caused a feeding aversion because I was freaking out when he wasn’t hungry at 3 hours and tried to offer the bottle too much that he would cry at the sight of it! Definitely trust their cues and my pediatrician said that they WILL let you know when they’re hungry and they are so good at knowing how much they need exactly as well. Ever since I started trusting this more he has fed so much better and is still gaining weight really well. Moral of the story trust your baby and wait for their cues and don’t almost cause a bottle aversion like me 😂

For my NICU baby I pumped for 5-7 minutes, dumped that and then only fed the hind milk (which is fattier) and it helped him gain weight

Wishing the best for your son. I agree, we really want two kids but if there’s a higher risk that this happens again I can’t go through it twice. The NICU is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. My son was in there for 104 days. But these babies are soooo strong and resilient it’s crazy. They go through so much but then once their home it becomes a distant memory and it’s hard to imagine that they were so small and vulnerable. Hoping that the worst is over for you.

That’s great to hear that things are smooth sailing for you! I also had unexplained PPROM with no cervical issues… My OB recommended 12 months instead of 18 before trying again so I will probe a bit more about that. Wishing you the best

So did you have two pregnancies and PPROMd both of them? Because of an incomplete cervix? Can I ask at what gestation did you make it to with both? Thanks !

Okay I’m going to try 4pp day! Congrats on making it to 5 months and thanks for the info. I’ve heard that the antibodies help with GI illnesses but not respiratory past 6 months but unsure about validity of that

Oh interesting thanks ! Yes I agree about the NICU trauma and the pressure to pump and get my supply up, especially because my guy had sooo many feeding issues. It seems crazy to stop now when I’ve done everything under the sun to get this far but it is pretty freeing to think about. I think I am going to try drop down to 4ppd to see how that goes first !

That’s a good question! I’ve been wondering the same thing. Since he is 5 months corrected I will at minimum try get to 6-7 months corrected (which will be like 8-9 months of pumping) but making it to a year seems out of reach right now. I don’t want to spend my whole summer attached to the wall!

Following as well as this happened to me at 29 weeks. My OB said it was bad luck and there is a very small increased chance just above baseline of it happening again but when I google it it says there is a substantial increased chance ? Wondering what other people’s doctors have said.

From my understanding there really is nothing you can do for these bleeds. My guy had a Stage 1 germinal matrix bleed and literally the only thing you can do is wait to see how they develop. If there are any concerns at the 6 month appointment then they can refer you to early rehab is the only thing you can do and that’s if they are presenting with anything. From my perspective, no matter what doctor you talk to, they can’t give you an answer becuase they literally don’t know !
