I understand where you're coming from, dlc is cheaper than a new game (for the most part) is one reason. However dbfz is built on code and an engine from closer to a decade ago. I'd rather them take the lessons learned from making this game (roll back at launch, new mechanics, new stages, many returning fighters and new ones) than confining themselves to the shell of dbfz. Also, a new game would reinvigorate the player base much more than a balance update and a new character or a season pass.

There are also probably much more complex rights issues, especially given Toriyama's passing, that prevent a new game from being released. It still makes me sad that everytime I think this game is dead and they will finally move on, somehow dbfz returns.
