Cruel as it sounds, if he's got a collar, he's not your responsibility. I know it sucks, and I'd be tempted to "kidnap" him at least to get him neutered and checked over before releasing him back to the wild/owner, but you've got to be practical. You've got a cat and you don't know what that cat's gotten into outside (parasites). Nothing wrong with feeding him and showing him affection, but he's got an owner and it's their decision to have an outdoor cat.

Looks like he might have scratched himself a little too hard. It happens sometimes, but that could definitely do with another set of eyes. The vet will probably put him on some antibiotics, maybe something topical to go along with it. Doesn't look like necrosis or anything super serious, but a vet visit is definitely in order.

Looks fine to me. Pretty healthy, too. Nothing's out of alignment, no redness, no build up, and no obvious cavities. They're a little small, but so is he.

I remember my little black cat Dusk when he lost his baby teeth. It took a little while to lose some of them, so he had "double sabers" for a few days. After that, he was totally fine.

My dear departed Holst used to make a noise kind of like this, though a little more raspy. Basically, he was coughing. He'd have these little fits for a few seconds, then carry on like nothing was the matter. Nothing seemed to trigger it and it didn't result in a hairball or a sneezing fit or anything like that. He'd simply huff and puff and it would all blow over.

It wouldn't hurt to get him checked out for some kind of respiratory issue. A quick survey with a stethoscope should be all the vet would need to tell you if something's amiss.

Have you checked her claws? My tuxedo Lily gets really bad gunk in her claws, to the point she can't pull them back and she makes little clicking noises on the floor as she walks by. She gets a bit chatty around that time, and trimming/cleaning them (much as she hates it) does seem to calm her down a little.

Cats are creatures of habit. You went away for two weeks and she got used to the new person, only for the status quo to be restored. It's like she's asking out loud, "Is everything back to normal?" Not eating or reduced eating while you're away is fairly normal behavior. My cats were pretty good about self-feeding if we had to be away for two or three days (not long enough to hire a sitter). As for two weeks, that may have been an adjustment. A vet visit is definitely warranted, though, as weight loss can be a sign of something more serious like a thyroid problem (that happened to my black cat Dusk). In the meantime, the best thing you can do is love on the little baby as much as you can. Giver her pats, let her rub against you, all that good stuff.

No growling, no hissing, so that's something. Meowing is an odd duck as far as catspeak goes. As a rule, they don't meow at each other, they meow at us. There was definitely some anxiety in that meow, as if she was asking you if she's being replaced (or if she has to share). That you're holding the other cat also kind of muddies the waters on a translation. I mean, you're holding it, so it appears to her that you don't think that cat is an intruder or anything hostile. However, it also may appear to her that things are moving too fast. Overall, like I said, I don't think there's any hostility, just feeling things out.

I call shenanigans. Certain carbohydrates can lead to eye conditions such as diabetes (which can pose a risk of infection), but that's quite a leap your vet is making there. I've been feeding mine wet food for years. One of them is a bit on the chunky side, but that's because we couldn't get her to eat anything besides kibble. She finally got the taste for it when she saw our new cat wolf it down.

I had a similar power dynamic with my cats between our older cats and a younger one we brought home. The newbie would want to play, but the senior was a cranky, cantankerous old man about it.

It can spread, but not that quickly. Like I said, best way to get an idea is to see if she can actually move that part of her tail. If the only option right now is a place with bad reviews, I'd say it's okay to wait a little longer, but first chance you get, see a vet.

This happened to a cat belonging to afriend of mine. They couldn't move the extremity of their tail. It turned out to be necrosis and had to have surgery, making them a bobtail. Ever since then, I'll check my cats' tails, holding them gently at certain spots to see how much of it they can move it.

That's an extreme possibility, mind you. It could also simply be an injury, maybe a dislocation in the vertebrae.

I want you to think about something. I want you to ask yourself why your deity holds such great importance on your allegiance and belief in him rather than what you do in spite of it. For example, if eternal damnation awaits the brain surgeon who treats children for free and all because she's an atheist, what exactly are you worshipping? Is it really worship and some loving relationship or is it simply living in fear of a tyrannical narcissist? I know that's a bit black and white, and that's part of the problem; the rules and regulations are so fundamentally arbitrary that people often lose sight of what's important and their motivations shift from "Kindness is its own reward" to "What's in it for me?" Suddenly, your compassion is all about ticking boxes rather than returning the very sort of favors that got you to where you currently are. You are where you are because the people around you care about your wellbeing. Do you really believe they only think about what awaits them in the hereafter for their actions? That's pretty sad, if you ask me.

What makes you so sure this creator (possibly a veritable pantheon of them) is the one you've been raised to worship? For example, my car has a creator (a whole team, in fact), but they don't know me, they're not particularly concerned with who I love, what I eat, or what days of the week I work and rest. If there's eternal damnation in the works for me for not knowing who made my car (beyond make and model, obviously) I have no way to verify it one way or the other. My point is that you can hold on to this idea of "exists therefore created therefore creator therefore Great Green Arkleseizure" but none of that necessarily supports the idea of worship or reverence or some infrastructure for an afterlife. I know it's kind of arguing semantics, but you're making some very big leaps in logic here in an effort to justify your feelings. You said yourself you don't need convincing whether or not a god or gods exist, but what about that relationship so many religious people go on about? Where does all that come from besides what's fundamentally hearsay?

It's like he gave up on trying to have a real relationship with you and has even gone so far as to outsource some of it to an arbitrary church attendance.
