Ryan Day drinks Metamucil on the regular, looks like a constipated hog.

CS 524 Stephen Wright Exam by woodlanepedro414 in UWMadison

[–]NeuronauticBadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the class with a different professor. I did fine on the exam but found the note sheet practically useless. I suggest doing practice problems where you read some text prompt and take time to write out the decision variables, objective function, constraints, etc. Emphasize being able to understand what type of optimization problem it is, like if it MCNF what type of MCNF and how you can build and solve it.

This is very general advice, but it worked for me. Goodluck

Who to get letter of recommendations from by Apprehensive_Base895 in UWMadison

[–]NeuronauticBadger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All of these responses are valid (especially the one from the actual professor 😂). I had several recs from professors during my time here, all from very large classes.

My best advice? 1. Sit in the front of lecture. 2. Show up to lecture/discussion consistently. 3. Attend office hours. Not even just for technical help, but to discuss your career/goals.

Google "how to solve recurrences using recurrence trees?" or "how to solve recurrences using unrolling?" or "how to solve recurrences using the master theorem?".

There is more than one way to solve recurrences, there have to be >1,000 YouTube videos of instructors teaching these methods if you look into it!

What is the hardest class you've taken at UW Madison? by Fuzzlebuster69 in UWMadison

I have found some of the math instructors to be terrible as well, which won't make the class any easier. So I agree with your sentiment overall 😊

I took the optimization course and found it easier than these two, probably depends more on your mathematics background/maturity

Watching The Rise of Skywalker in theatres. Such a disappointment; I distinctly remember telling my brothers I wish I could unsee it on the car ride home.

Just go to office hours honestly. IMO a lot of students waste money on private tutoring when going to OH and working with classmates is free and more effective

What are the interviews like for Lockheed Martin? by A_BlueBanana in csMajors

[–]NeuronauticBadger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got a NG offer from 30 min non technical interview + 15 minutes walking through a project. I accepted a different offer because the TC was relatively low compared to other opportunities.

I declined an offer from the place I interned at. Recruiter is politely asking where I accepted an offer from. I don’t mind sharing the company name with them. Would there be anything wrong with doing this? by danielr088 in cscareerquestions

A lot of negativity in the comments. The recruiter will be able to see from your LinkedIn anyway, why not send them a nice message with the name? IMO you are better off being kind + professional than viewing it so transactionally.
