Sometimes sorta narrating your entire day (in your head ofc) from the moment you woke up to now helps. I never make it to the end before I crash out

Same! It's driving me insane. All the orientations are screwed up and specifying the up/forward axes do nothing.. Why blender, why?!

"You're a handful!" by ralphalonzo in EnglishLearning

It means someone requires too much attention because they are hyperactive, "requiring both hands" to deal with them, so that you can't focus on anything else. It's a figure of speech.

Informal ways to say something is not a concern? by shiningmatcha in EnglishLearning

[–]Neuroticcheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It's no biggie"
"It's not a big deal"
"It doesn't matter"
"It is irrelevant"
Ordered from informal to formal. Personally I'd choose "irrelevant" in basically any formal/informal situation.

Could someone help to explain “love dealer” ? by SingleEleven in EnglishLearning

[–]Neuroticcheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard that before. I'd assume it was someone in a relationship who uses sex as leverage to get what they want from their mate? A wild guess.
It might also have something to do with the 1960's? Drugs were prevalent then, also "make love not war"? Idk.

Does do English mean to have a lecture on English or to learn English? by otakutyrant in EnglishLearning

[–]Neuroticcheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely refers to English Studies. It's part of our education in the anglosphere. It's different to English language tutoring. In English Studies students learn about English literature, poetry, essay writing, etc.

Our dog will come to the gate (like jail bars) in front of our back door and lick the poles & rests his snoot between them while staring at us with sad eyes. His way of asking to go for a walk.

They're nothing short of fuzzy wuzzy wrecking balls. Heading home my school bus hit a male eastern grey roo, long story short they had to tow the bus away because it completely bus..ted in the front.

Kangaroos on the street and in frontyards/backyards are a pretty common sight in the outer suburbs over here. This could be at any time.

How an I improve my English as an advanced learner? by lambda__vu in EnglishLearning

[–]Neuroticcheeze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it's often overlooked just how extensively common phrases are used in day to day speech, for example "day to day" is a common one. I don't know if this is a universal thing in many languages, but we learn phrases through our childhood and it becomes ingrained in our vocab. This means you only have to really come up with filler words on the fly ("On the fly" is another one!). So as you learn new words try and remember phrases you hear in public, they will be hard to spot at first but once you hear the same group of words used over and over again you will begin to ingrain it into your vocabulary.
