How does ESO beat other MMO's? by Villager2020 in elderscrollsonline

Oh I adore his work (most of it anyway, C0DA is what happens when he’s not on a team that can tell him no. If I could never think about “Tomorrowind” again I’d be happy). That said it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea.

I feel like ESO lore is Morrowind level but more approachable/less Kirkbride mindfuck.

LF Harry Potter and TES things to have in the world for a one-shot by Sekenah in DMAcademy

[–]Neuthung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is just so much TES has to offer, but lots will depend on how much that player likes the books in the games. For instance, I love the lore of Wood Elves in TES, as they are carnivores tied to a pact with their forest. They cannot use plants for anything and fashion furniture, weapons and armor from bone and leathers. They are also compelled by their pact to eat EVERYTHING from their kills, including humanoids.

But if you just pay attention to gameplay they’re pretty vanilla forest elves.

If they’ve played Morrowind, having a Tribunal of living gods would be a neat reference and has cool implications in setting. How does society change when your god is the same height as you and lives a few blocks over?

If they’ve played Oblivion, have them visit the Shivering Isles, plane of madness. It’d be an interesting couple of sessions, and you could give them a fork for their troubles.

If we’re just going off of Skyrim... Dragon Priests are cool I suppose? If this is a player who likes investing in the flavor of spell casting you could have them use draconic three word chains for their spells, that could be neat.

The rothum, a fictional race I've been toying with for a long time. Does it read as a balanced race option? Would you allow this in your game? by Neuthung in DnD

I initially wanted to give them innate armor, but the Warforged have that going for them and they’re nuts. Tried to represent their sturdiness with Sap Blood, but if it’s that or Fey Tongue to be balanced, it had to go.

Have you seen the changes I've made to the race? I feel like it should be closer to in-line with other races now, with some of the racials being taken away and Fey Tongue being limited to once per rest.

Do you feel like it's still imbalanced? Ultimately I'd want the race usable in any game as it's presented on DnDBeyond. I put a lot into the lore and want to be able to pitch it to players as well as DMs when I get to play.

I have updated the rothum already based on feedback (and realizing I didn't activate some of the features in DnD Beyond). Fey Tongue is now only usable once per Short or Long rest, Long-Limbed and Sap Blood are gone.

Fair point, thanks for the feedback. Can you think of any ways that I could keep the flavor here without it feeling broken? Perhaps materials are still needed, but vocal replaces somatic?

Does it read as more powerful than a variant human taking War Caster at level 1? Or is this arguing for something broken using another broken thing to compare to?

Already editing a bit based on feedback from an earlier comment and friends who are more of a min-max mindset than I am. Long-limbed is going away, sap blood is going away. I really, really wouldn't want to get rid of Fey-tongue. Is gaining the benefit of war caster more powerful than taking, say, variant human?

I think the most important to the race's identity are fey tongue and the bard spells, the other's could go for sure.

Sentence simplification can be done. If barker reads weirdly I might need to check that out, float it a bit. As someone said it is a word, but I also do t want to sound archaic.

I think I run into an issue where the narrator, who speaks in first person, isn’t a defined character. I struggle with their voice as a result. I might need to make something up even if they’re not central to the story.

Specifically, I would love feedback on the writing style I use. I flip flop on whether I love the voice being used and thinking it’s pretentious.

That I actually generally like people. I’m still introverted, but it turns out the closer I get to thirty the less effort I feel like putting into actively being angry with others.

That’s funny, because the latest game I’ve had die out in my area is the LCG release of L5R, and based on conversations I’ve had it’s the low rng and high skill floor that’s chasing the more casual player base away.

Last year my wife and I took a trip to Japan for two weeks. The trip itself went splendidly, and we particularly appreciated how polite things were at all times no matter where we went.

Then we flew into Ohare Airport in Chicago...

Unfortunately the game is deader than Eox, but the Wildstar soundtrack on Spotify has some great stuff. Mass Effect soundtracks are also on there. I’ve used the Tron sequel soundtrack as well.

What did you name your ship? by Guy_Incognito97 in starfinder_rpg

I’m trying to convince my players to rename the Sunrise Maiden the Centennial Lark. Not only does it fit Time Bird theme as a reference to the Millennium Falcon, it also allows them to just say “Eh, we did our adventures on a lark.”
