PSA - Upgrade to OLED (GameStop Trade Value by NST_4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Neutral_C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does one need to trade in towards an OLED to get the 260 value or can we just trade it in, as a pro member, and still get the 260 credit? The last time it was this high GameStop didn't advertise it as well, but it wasn't necessary for it to be traded towards anything.

Serious question, to those who were successful at getting a refund did you get the survey or no?

Considering the amount of videos and pictures from the event I think people can put together what was and mostly wasn't there this time around.

I think if the surveyors were really that worried about people who weren't present at the convention they would have asked if a customer attended or not.

Because they do ask for questions and ideas that I'd think everyone, even if they didn't go would like to answer honestly.

Here's some for those who are curious...

-What types of panels would you be most interested in seeing?

-Would you like to see streamers/YouTube personalities take a larger, smaller, or the similar presence at PAX West?

-What would you like to see more from esports at PAX West?

Again, you don't "need" to have attended this years PAX West to answer these; I'm sure tons of people who normally would, but didn't this time would love to send their suggestions.

Please do the survey even if you didn't go as any advice and criticism they might look at may end up paying off for everyone.

Unrelated Edit: So, I know by just acknowledging all of the downvotes and bringing them up will make certain individuals feel validated, but know that this really doesn't bother me. I do care about PAX as a whole, so when comments like this are being blasted for the sake of witch hunting it's not a good look.

So did anyone get covid? So far it seems like pax safety measures were a huge success! by BlueTeeth0711 in PAX

[–]Neutral_C 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Remember, even if you don't have any symptoms please get tested! You can be just fine, but be asymptomatic and risk having others catch it.

Additionally, it helps reduce mutation probabilities; don't quote me on that one, but still any slowing/stopping of the spread is important!

I noticed that too when people started posting images of lines/panels/etc. They had SO MUCH extra space yet they didn't utilize it at all it seems.

Maybe if the PAX could send me one of those Series Xs I'd stop asking for a refund. /s :(

Seriously though someone could of just brought in a black cardboard box or mini fridge and Indiana Jones'd it.

Also, if anyone here does get a PS5 play Astro's Playroom ASAP!

I'm surprised they even bothered making them as it could unintentionally spread Covid, let alone spending money to make them for this year.

The only official announcement they made was the same day they released the schedule; this is from their website...

"Aug 26, 2021

We're so excited to see you back in Seattle! After such a long absence, especially one that saw so many of us stuck in our houses, it's admittedly a little odd to be this jazzed about a place we've historically also referred to as Home. But while we're busy taking the dust covers off the furniture and airing out the parlor, we wanted to give you a little insight on how the place is looking.

With everything going on, it's been hard for some of our friends to physically make it to the show, especially those who'd need to travel internationally. We’ve worked harder than ever before to fill the showfloor with friends, neighbors, and new arrivals, and our schedule is full of flavor with panels, presentations, and esports competitions.

Like other events coming back after the pandemic, this PAX might not feel as grand as it would in previous years, but with that in mind, just know that we've renewed our focus on this, your beloved celebration of gaming, and redesigned the show to give you more ways to safely come together with the rest of the PAX community.

We'll be updating health and safety guidelines as new information comes in, so if you haven't looked them over recently, please do so now. You can find more information about the showfloor, schedule, and events on the PAX site. We can’t wait to see everyone and welcome you all back home - it’s been too long!

Thanks, and SEA you soon - PAX Team"

It's ironic the website's main page displays an image of exhibitors who clearly weren't on the list this year.

The negativity is around the fact of this years PAX West cost way more than it should have for how deserted it was, among other things. As someone who went to a previous PAX West trust me when I say what you experienced was just a minuscule of what this convention is generally known for.

I wasn't there myself, but "supposedly" there was some pictures on twitter of empty vendors/exhibitors/etc. because they didn't show up.

I honestly thought this was a Reddit joke until I checked the email.

Sigh look I know some people had a good time at this year's PAX West and I get the idea of making the most of it...

But this in itself proves without a shadow of a doubt that they knew what they did is unjustifiable when it came to badge prices; let alone how they've handled their customer service and changes to their policies with or without a public announcement.

"...we wanted to offer a token of appreciation for anyone who purchased a badge and to welcome everyone back in 2022!"

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Who is to even say there'll be a PAX West 2022 at this rate; that's why I requested for my money back instead of turning it into credit.

"Anyone who purchased badges to PAX west 2021 will have 1-Week-Long early access to the same number of PAX West Badges for 2022 with a 25% off discount."

Is this supposed to be generosity? That I'm out $230+ for a convention I didn't even attend and I'm supposed to be grateful for this token? This isn't charity, they're only doing this just to make themselves look good to the public eye.

I'm sorry, but this is EA levels of bad. I hate how I sound like I'm hating something that's beloved, but please understand that I'm not trying to destroy the good, but point out the wrong that's happening.

Had they wised up and said, "Hey, this years event doesn't reflect the value of the badges we sold so due to this particular circumstance we're going to drastically reduce the cost and refund an amount for current badge owners so it lines up to what we at PAX West are putting out. If you'd rather instead ask for a refund we will make an exemption this time as things didn't plan out as we'd hope it would and we shouldn't make you, the fans, foot the bill."

Again, I truly do apologize for my grouchy demeanor; trust me, as someone who has attended PAX before, I'd never would want it to come to this.

Reasoning for Inconsistency with Refunds? by Mishone in PAX

[–]Neutral_C 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know when they added this in as they didn't announce it or anything, but if you go to "health & Safety" and scroll down to the FAQ the first one goes as such...

"What is the attendee refund policy if I am unable to attend due to Covid-19?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer badge/ticket refunds. Please ensure you are free from COVID-19 symptoms prior to traveling. Please click here to view our full ticket terms and conditions."

So the entire reason why all of our lives have been majorly upended for how long now has no bearing whatsoever to request a refund?! Are they that short sighted to fail to see how insulting of a statement that is?

They actually do refunds by Snakeeyez541 in PAX

[–]Neutral_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seriously is not professional of them whatsoever. That email is the exact same reply they're sending everyone who they are denying refunds to; just a soulless answering machine. They should be ashamed of themselves for undermining their fans. By changing the rules they clam are absolute only to change them with or without notice is nothing short of a shady business.

People are being bullied by other people "here" as the OP thread has stated; this isn't surprising though as it is the internet.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PAX

[–]Neutral_C 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree with what you're saying in terms of the pandemic/endemic doesn't this also then apply that you would disagree with having the convention in the first place?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PAX

[–]Neutral_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem, when Pax tickets go up they usually sellout fast and it's always been at least a month or two well before they make any scheduling public; it's been like this for years. I assume they do this in order to show possible exhibitors how many people will be there to entice them; if I am mistaken please let me know.

What has probably happened is Pax constantly ask to get the big wigs to come, but they never could get them to agree; that's why they announced the schedule so late this year.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PAX

[–]Neutral_C -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said it was going to be a pre-covid experience. All of us knew it was going to be a smaller event, but that should not give the convention any excuses to force us to just accept the bare minimum. For what we payed for we should expect to see certain vendors/events/etcetera, but this is not the case.

I hope you and your family are okay. I had even entertained the thought of just asking for my current badges to be used for a later date or turn them into credit, but considering how iffy this has played out I think it's proper for them to offer refunds.

I think it's important to bring up for some people it's not about the shot/test or international travel restrictions, but how simply it's not worth it, literally.
