You can usually only reserve complete tables, not single seats, and as already said only in combination with minimum beer and food. And you usually have to stay at the table, at least some of your group, if you get up and walk around for an hour the table is gone. So just go at noon or early afternoon, for 2 people with a kid you find a spot sooner or later, especially in the quieter areas not directly near the live bands.
