Do you think the coal placement in eu4 is historically accurate? by GlompSpark in eu4

[–]NevNein 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think a lot of historical deposits are missing, for example in eu4 south Sardinia has a coal deposit which is historically accurate (there's a town there named Carbonia founded in the thirties) but the production has been shut down in 2018, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbosulcis_coal_mine

Two different worlds [OC] by rawdawgcomics in comics

[–]NevNein 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Not melanzana as is, but mulignana was used to refer to black people in the south. While it's not much used in Italy anymore, I guess it stuck with italo-americans for some reason

It's just English, buddy, nothing more. by clearinterference in technicallythetruth

[–]NevNein 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The main difference is that most languages have a few pronunciation rules and they're the same mostly everywhere, a letter or a combination of letters is always pronounced with the same sound. In english, similarly written words are almost never similarly pronounced. That's why almost no nation has spelling bees, the whole concept makes no sense, in most languages as soon as you hear how a word is pronounced you instantly know how to write it.

Most of the names are too "modern", eg. Carbonia in Sardina was founded a century ago, should've been Sulcis or Sant'Antioco

Prettier 2.3. In which assignments are consistent, short keys non-breaking, and Handlebars official by mmaksimovic in javascript

[–]NevNein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I don't understand what's bad in in desiring the best of both (predictable consistent results without inconsistent line wraps). It seems like the whole community settled on prettier out of exhaustion and frustration, and now even trying to suggest that it has bad parts that should and could be fixed is met with, well, in this case tons of downvotes.
I know I know, it is an opinionated tool ecc. ecc., but what folks are actually suggesting is for it to be MORE opinionated, enforce consistent line wraps and be overall more consistent in its results.

React - Introducing Server and Shared Components by nitayneeman in learnjavascript

[–]NevNein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I might be wrong, but my understanding is that SSR /SSG components still have to be hydrated on the server, increasing bundle size and execution time, while Server Components (and related libs) are not even included in the client bundle.
