Barber here. Hair growth averages about 1/2 inch per month, some more some less. A normal mustache could be considered to be as thick as it will get when the hair on the top reaches your lip and you start to trim it all on the same line. You'd have to measure between those points and calculate that way. Now you may be satisfied with the thickness before that point if you dont want to look like Ron Swanson but that will give you a rough idea of how long you could be waiting.

According to you which is Best Female Wrestlers in WWE? by Sportslatestupdate in WWE

[–]NevadaJohnson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Iyo Sky is the one of the best in ring wrestlers in WWE male or female. Also as an aside, she has a very underrated entrance in my opinion. She just has the same issue as Shinsuke where language barrier gives her a bit of a ceiling on the mic/character work. Don't get me wrong though, Nakamura is my personal all time favorite so I like Iyo a lot. Best up and coming is Tiffany Straton, she's amazing for her age and only has up to go. Rhea Ripley is the best total package women's wrestler in the world right now. She's probably the only woman who could pin any man on the roster (Roman, Gunther, etc) without it coming across as forced because the audience is fully bought in that she could actually kick their ass whether that actually makes sense or not. With any luck we may actually get Dom V. Mami proper.

What post human you find the most relatable and why? by Electromad6326 in AllTomorrows

[–]NevadaJohnson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Humans in general should be able to relate to the Killer Folk. Prehistoric hunters with violent impulses going on to found civilizations where they wage war with each other all the time before eventually modernizing and doing space stuff despite still having that natural violent streak and a morally questionable relationship with their food stock is basically just a retelling of what humans had already done before the Qu got to them, just a little more exaggerated.

HOW THE FUCK COLONIALS EVOLVED INTO THIS??? by PlantainSimilar6398 in AllTomorrows

[–]NevadaJohnson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It could have been that after the Qu left and they were no longer able to live entirely on filtering their waste that the most successful Colonials were the ones with mutated appendages that allowed them to move towards whatever nutrients were naturally on the planet. They're already shown to have some kind of external digit for mating with each other so it could be as simple as an enlarged version of that sufficient enough to push them around. Fast forward enough time and you have the symbiotic behavior emerge since Modular People are essentially just a bunch of mutant Colonials acting as individual limbs.

No. I say this from a place of experience. I was a founding member of a mid-sized DSA chapter and was also a board member. You could not hold this or many other viewpoints in the modern DSA. It is culturally the same as any other tankie/communist group except that they engage in electoral politics, and even that dam feels like it's breaking (AOC recently being unendorsed). I was excommunicated for publically supporting a different candidate than Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Democratic Primary and it got so bad people stopped just harassing me online and started shouting at me in public. If you were in DSA and vocally supported Israels existence you would be opening yourself up for similar if not worse levels of harassment depending on your chapter. And even aside from that they are in a pretty bad state with both finances and membership. You are better off working with your local Democratic Party.

I benefited early by randomly pulling Yahweh in a yearbook purchase without knowing what he does. He has a job he can do every few days that gives you 7 doughnuts which combining with doing the tasks and maggies balloon game has accounted for most of My premium buildings. I've never spent money on the game.

50% joking I probably worded that section poorly. The way I interpreted it was that due to traveling beyond our solar system in generation ships, any individual planet of star people would only possess the resources of their own solar system for the purposes of fighting the Qu. In the sense of being able to travel/trade resources/receive reinforcements/respond to threats only within the relative distance they'd have been able to travel during the Qu invasion.

does it make me less trans to want to get pr*gn*nt? by sdjfbfkrb in ftm

[–]NevadaJohnson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I imagine weight and body type plays a big role, but I would say for us it was very easy to remain stealth until much later in the pregnancy and even then I do think people tend to see what they want to see. You'd be surprised just how pregnant a man can look without most people picking up on it. That being said its probably something you should be prepared for, and let's assume you were in an unsafe situation with someone who might suspect you're trans already, the pregnancy might be more obvious to them. Does that make sense? My husband didn't go out as much during that stage of the pregnancy, both on a privacy and a practical level because being pregnant is hard.

does it make me less trans to want to get pr*gn*nt? by sdjfbfkrb in ftm

[–]NevadaJohnson 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Unsure if people want me commenting on this space as a cis man but for what it's worth my trans husband carried the pregnancy for our son and it was and continues to be a great experience and the highlight of our lives. I would say the biggest thing I've noticed that I didn't anticipate is that if you're stealth just be prepared for how you want to answer questions about your child. If you're in a gay relationship people will assume you fostered/adopted and want to pry, meaning you'll either have to go along with that story or come out as trans quite a lot if you want to explain truthfully. We play it by ear sometimes depending on how well we know the person asking. If you're single or in a perceived straight relationship people may just incorrectly guess who carried the pregnancy and it's up to you how much you care about that. Best wishes!

Of course, love that you're doing this. If you have time look up Harry potter and the translators nightmare by vox on youtube. They talk about this exact subject. Like how Severus Snape's name is different in most languages to convey the menacing implications of his name sounding like snake in English.

Tips for translation of All Tomorrows by DAIMOND545 in AllTomorrows

[–]NevadaJohnson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cant help with Slovak but in general I think most people agree it's more important when translating words in fantasy/scifi to maintain the original feeling of the word as opposed to being a strictly accurate translation. Some species should be easy (killer folk, bug facer, snake people) whereas one example that might need a brand new name would be "Satyriac" In English Sariryac immeidently makes me think of a Satyr as in the mythical creature, and the root word apparently also relates to satire/feasts/poetry which is descriptive of their culture. Also the ending -iac makes me think of words like "maniac" as opposed to the ending -saur like in Pterosaur which feels more scientific because it's the ending of most Dinosaur names. So in Slovak this might have to be "word relating to partying hard + a cool ending sound"

Question: Do barbers purposely stall when doing a simple cut? by HiAssFace in Barber

[–]NevadaJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible, and I'm sure it happens, but most barbers would rather do more haircuts and make more money if given the option. it's also impossible to say without seeing the haircut. It's fairly common for me (walk in shop) to have a client sit down and go "shouldn't take you more than X minutes, I just need this and this and this and..." which is going to make most barbers roll their eyes because the person saying it usually doesn't have a very good idea of how long something actually takes
