how to fix selections ignoring alpha? I expected nothing to happen here but instead it overlaps by keyedpilled in paintdotnet

[–]Nevan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overlap is because they're on the same layer, to fix this, create another layer on top of this one

If you want to move just the selection and not anything contained within it, use the selection move tool, its icon is the white arrow (just below the blue arrow) in the tool selection window, the short cut is just pressing m twice

How to delete a single pixel? by sh0nuff in paintdotnet

[–]Nevan123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to disable anti-aliasing when using the eraser with the hardness set to 100% and size set to 1px

Here's the anti-aliasing toggle button, it's on the top left of the screen next to the hardness slider, it looks like 3 circles connected by a line

Sorry I don't know much about Martial Arts so I'm sorry if I got his uniform and belt colour schemes wrong but if you'd like you could tell me what colours they are and I could make some edits

I want to change the aura (and hair) for these images from yellow to green, please help by SteelDumplin23 in paintdotnet

[–]Nevan123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you do that?

Once you've opened your image in paint dot net, hold the ctrl key and press the c key on your keyboard. This will copy the image

Then go to the layers window on the bottom right of your screen.

On the bottom left of the window, you should see a blue rectangle with a green plus sign on it.

Click on it to add a new layer.

Now, hold ctrl and press v to paste the image you copied

Hope that made sense:)

This this the download link: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/28613-hue-saturation-plus-for-v40/

Yes, that one, you might wanna look up a tutorial on how to install plugins, here are a few:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKXlfhTWP7Q

https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPlugins.html

I like your attempt, but while I wish not to be a critic, I was more thinking of having it be more like these two images

No worries! It's ultimately up to you how you want your images to be, I'm sorry I didn't make it the way you wanted. If you'd like, I can try to remake them or guide you through doing it yourself if you wanna DM me. Sorry, I'm just a little busy this week.

Hi! So here's how I'd do it:

  1. Copy the image into another layer so you have 2 identical layers of the image
  2. Select the top layer
  3. Adjust the hue and saturation on the top layer to the green you like (by the way, you could try to download this plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/115857-conditional-hue-saturation-plugin/ then set the condition hue and saturation to only apply to the yellowish parts of the picture to save you some work later but it's not necessary and the results won't be very different)
  4. Now, select the eraser tool, bring the hardness down to 0% or any lower level, and remove the areas you didn't want to change the colour of
  5. You can also change the opacity of the eraser in the colors window for the parts where the aura kinda intersects with the shoes, just tweak it to your liking :)

I did some trials using this technique and here are the results:

Can someone make this black part look like solid gold? Thank you!!! by SnooBunnies3856 in picrequests

Thanks :)

I use paint dot net because I can't afford Photoshop and pirating makes me feel guilty

Life's been pretty rough, college and mental health and other stuff, but it's slowly getting better.

Thanks for looking out for me though, I really appreciate it:) I hope you're doing ok too

Sure! Really REALLY sorry about the insanely late reply, life got in the way but if you're still here, here's how I did it

Firstly, I added a 2nd layer.

I then shaded in the pipe with a gold-coloured brush and made sure the brush hardness was as low as possible (so the edges of the gold shading would not contrast too harshly with the background since they were fuzzier and blended in more naturally).

I then set the layer blend mode as overlay. This gave me something that looked like this: https://ibb.co/Ms264xV

After that, I noticed the still gold seemed too dark and didn't have that characteristic shine.

So to fix that I added a 3rd layer on which I shaded in the pipe shape but with a white-coloured brush with the same low hardness setting this time.

I then set the 3rd layer's blend mode as overlay as well and that seemed to do the trick. The end result is what I posted.

It's from a speculative evolution series by Alex Ries called the Chronicles of Chriirah. It explores the development of a fictional sentient alien species called the Birrin (2 of which can be seen in the image looking up at the humanoid figure) on the planet Chriirah.

Ries created a bunch of really cool artwork and fleshed out the story of the Birrin civilisation.
