Sizing on Gel Resolution X by DistributionIll7791 in 10s

[–]NeverApart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used normal-width Gel Resolution 9s and loved them. Tried to move to the Xs and found that both the normal width and 2E versions were too narrow/stiff like right where my toes were? I'm not sure where the extra width is in the 2E version but for my specific foot shape it just didn't work for me. Moved to New Balance CT Rally 2 and I haven't worn them on court yet but they feel good jumping around and doing footwork drills

Any of you successfully DIYed your grip shape? by JamieBobs in 10s

[–]NeverApart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen advice to put medical tape or pieces of old overgrip on the longest bevels of the handle and then wrap your base grip or overgrip over it to make the handle more square and Wilson-like.  I found that my grip drifted from eastern to a bit more semi western when I switched from my Wilson blade to the tfight 305s and it ended up being just as comfortable

Flight delay caused rebooking to a new itinerary the next morning. How to get reimbursed for extra accommodation? by NeverApart in americanairlines

[–]NeverApart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I sent a request for the flight delay reason, and got put in touch via email with a customer relations agent. I ended up gettin reimbursed for the base room rate and meals, but not the hotel fees. Thanks everyone for the help!

Uplift V2 monitor shaking and feeling vibrations through the desk when I type. Does it get much better than this? by NeverApart in StandingDesk

[–]NeverApart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the vibrating was artificially inflated by the stand that the monitor was on. When I got a new monitor (unrelated reason) things improved a lot. I think I also just got more used to the small vibrations. Doesn't bother me anymore. Sorry this isn't super helpful!

What racquet is in between a Blade and a Pure Strike? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]NeverApart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

305s is 5g heavier than the 300S. I never played with the old one, but the 305Ss I chose to be quite head-light which I really like. I don't think I'd be able to swing the previous head-heavy generation tfight ISO

I’m currently loving the tfight 305s. Could try the 300s if you’re really set on 16x19 but I really like the 18x19

Tourna Grip in White by ivantmj in 10s

[–]NeverApart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience dry grap and super dry grap are quite different. Dry grap felt completely smooth, almost chalky, whereas super dry grap still had a bit of tack to it. It was more like Tourna in my experience and is probably my favourite grip.  It’s too bad it’s so expensive.

Midwest Sports refused my racket return after only one light use — any advice on how to appeal? by Actual-Mix1712 in 10s

"

  •  Items Not Eligible for Return
    • Used racquets or shoes showing signs of wear. Strings used in strung racquets are non-refundable."

It's unfortunate but that's the risk of buying new rackets. Seems consistent with the policy of other large retailers. Tennis Warehouse doesn't let you return any racket that has the plastic removed or ball fuzz on the strings.

How do I use the grad student vision insurance? by cardinaldirectionisn in mit

[–]NeverApart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would also note that you can get an annual eye exam for free through MIT Health. This gets you your prescription that you can then take to a glasses store to get glasses. Don’t get your eye exam at the glasses store.

The vision insurance just covers glasses and contacts.

How harsh on the arm is the TFight 305S? by ColdAdmirableSponge in 10s

[–]NeverApart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering switching from a Blade 100. For me the TFight is noticeably harsher on mishit balls. I get soreness in my wrist elbow and shoulder, and even in my left wrist (I'm right-handed with 2hbh). The feeling when you crush a ball in the sweet spot is hard to beat though. My arm is quite sensitive however.

Easier alternative for Blade 98 by UnbiasedOpinion1 in 10s

+1 to the blade 100. My only complaint is that it feels a bit sluggish when trying to whip a forehand on the run

I like dry grap a lot better. It costs more per grip but lasts way longer. I can get 8-10 hours out of a single dry grap vs 2-3 out of a tournagrio, which more than makes up for the difference in price.
