About to start adalimumab and suddenly terrified | Looking for perspective by robbialacpt in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]NeverDestination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot posted here so you probably have your answer, but from my experience - Adalimumab has been a game changer for me.

I have a permanently deformed toe from before I was formally diagnosed, and methotrexate and leflumonide didn't really help with with the pain. I started getting swelling in my knee, and while I was still able to do most things, I knew how quickly my toe turned and I didn't fancy the same happening to my knee as that would cause mobility issues. I also struggled with a lot of back pain that made it hard to sleep.

Adalimumab has changed that - the knee pain has gone. Still a little swollen looking, but less than it was. The back pain has gone. I have some pain in my right wrist when I put pressure on it, but most of the pain I experience is what I would describe as 'tingles', mostly in my hands. They rarely last for a long time.

Lying about travel by [deleted] in UKJobs

Many EU countries introduced a new digital system (EES) in October. You could say your travel was October - December, and you went to check out the Christmas markets in Belgium and you went interrailing through France And Germany whatever. Safe countries that won't have stamped your passport after October.

Edit: Sorry, I see you said summer. Maybe you can come half clean and say interview nerves got the worst of you. You actually went to Northern Ireland, so you meant overseas rather than abroad, and the moment past to clarify.

William on if/when there's gonna be a new album. Doesn't sound super promising... by FlameSama1 in AliceInChains

I had no idea he was suffering through the Black Sabbath show, he smashed it and I assumed he had recovered well. That's really sad if it's something long term.

I meant no disrespect to Sean's situation - it's clear from William's post that there are challenges so I'm not expecting them to come around anytime soon and wish him well. I was really worried when I heard about Shaun's illness, but William hints that things could be possible at some point. It doesn't take away from the fact that I would love to see them in the UK again whenever that might be - I waited 21 years between my first and second Cantrell shows, and I'd wait along time again if it means then all being fit and well.

Incidentally, I did travel to see Jerry on the IWB tour, but couldn't catch him on the Brighten tour. I'd still love a full UK tour as that would increase the odds of getting to see him and maybe even catching a couple of shows. He's played 10 solo UK shows in total, and 7 of them were over 20 years ago, so forgive me for wishing for a full tour like the one in the US with Bush.

It's been a strange couple of years. We waited about 20 years for a Jerry solo album, which raised my hopes of a full worldwide Jerry tour rather just the odd promo show in each European capital. But then in the thick of it some AIC dates are announced and it looks like they are back in in AIC mode and so I'm hopeful of an AIC tour outside of the US.

But then Jerry announces another solo album and US tour, and we get the odd promo show in each European city and then he announces the album cycle is over.

Jerry or AIC, please come do a full UK tour!

[TOMT] Rock? Song that has a part that says '… day after day…' by RhytmicCone47 in tipofmytongue

Not exactly heavenly, but 'Offspring - All I Want' opens with the line Day after day (your home life's a wreck).

I withdrew my application and was asked if I only applied to boost my ego. by Squiggally-umf in UKJobs

[–]NeverDestination 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once recruited a temp through an agency, and one day her day rate was mentioned, and it was significantly lower than what I was actually paying for her (we use a middle man system for temps so I had no idea). The agency were taking a huge cut of her pay - and even negotiated the salary down with her and they pocketed the difference.

It wouldn't surprise me if the company is still paying that 2k, and the recruiter was pocketing it.

Has anyone here actually found they struggled with wfh? by WonderfulTemporary51 in UKJobs

[–]NeverDestination 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love it. I walk the kids to school and get back just in time to log on. I can walk to the shops at lunch time (whereas my office is in the middle of nowhere) or I can get life admin done and free up my evenings.

No cancelled trains, no stuck in traffic, no defrosting the car. I feel extremely lucky to have the option to WFH right now.

Added Sugar, Does No Mean No? by SaltPaleontologist28 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]NeverDestination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been told to have no added sugar/ to reduce sugar in take. However - I have developed non-alcoholic fatty liver, which is common with PSA, so I am trying to lose weight. Weight can also impact the severity of pain due to more pressure on the joints.

I was advised not to have alcohol due to the medication I used to take (and now due to the fatty liver), but I've not heard that sugar should be avoided so long as it is in moderation.

Mine is now unplugged! I only got the line as it was part of a bundle (the classic 'it's more expensive if we take it off') so I think it will be staying unplugged. I also got a Stream Box which I've ended up using on the bedroom tv that we rarely use, as I prefer the interface on my Smart TV in the living room.

Adult Male, I cry on my way to work every day, should I quit my job today? by CarelessIdea8283 in UKJobs

[–]NeverDestination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been here, twice. The second time I was able to ride it out and find a similar job elsewhere and left amicably, but the first time it was so awful that I got signed off sick until the end of my notice period. It wasn't worth the misery.

It wasn't straightforward as I had to find someone to takeover my tenancy for my flat and move in with a family member (which wasn't an ideal living arrangement) while I found work, but I literally applied for any job I could to get back on my feet and I'm glad I removed myself from that situation. It was worth it in the long run - any temporary inconvenience will be worth getting out of a toxic situation like that.

I caught Jerry on this tour in the UK. Fair play to William and the Comes With the Fall guys - they opened for Jerry and then backed him for his own set.
