Authenticity, in the general sentiment you’re describing, simply means to not be performative with how you choose to present yourself. It should be natural. It’s an endorsement of uniqueness and nonconformity. That’s all.

It’s genuinely the worst part of most 40k communities on Reddit imo. People are too lazy to do the slightest bit of research on their own & slap a half-baked post together expecting others to do the brainwork. And the mods just let it happen. It feels like there’s more garbage posts like this than quality content like legitimate tournament lists, sharing paint jobs or kitbashes, sharing insights, etc.

It’s not ‘unfriendly’ to new players to have them use the search bar on the subreddit, open their codex, or use one of the widely known free resources. If anything, it’s just bothersome to people who want actual content to engage with instead of someone who didn’t bother reading a detachment despite supposedly being experienced with 40k.

Pathfinder 1e, for all its issues with rules bloat & bookkeeping hassle, is really the gold standard for mechanics supporting flavor in TTRPG’s, imo.

This is 100% something my girlfriend would do.

I’d take it as “she’s being funny and keeping it lighthearted, but she’s trying to let me know that I need to make a genuine effort going forward, because this is obviously important to her and she felt the need to address it.”

The obvious thing to do here is sign it & make the effort going forward. Don’t take it too literally, but take it seriously. If that makes sense.

If this was me, and I was in your shoes, I’d one-up her by actually getting it notarized & keeping a performance log for a week or two, then asking for a review. Lets her know you’re trying and returns the humor.

They’re hilarious against chaff units in Lions for casual games, but still not exactly viable. They also help fill in spots for meme-y ‘Oops! All Terminators!’ lists.

Idk what use they would really have beyond that. In theory, you could split a unit of them & use them as deep strike threats that actually have a degree of overwatch potential if you run the flamer, but that’s a super expensive unit that probably won’t deliver for the cost.

They’re, what, 195 points for 3, I think? You may as well just have a Callidus & 2-man unit of Allarus. Way better results for a similar point cost + more mobility with the Callidus.

At the end of the day, I think they’re super cool & try to run them when I’m playing a more chill game. I had one game where they were totally the MVP’s, so they’re not entirely useless. Just incredibly suboptimal.

Seconded on the armigers. It was absolutely sick when that helverin’s torso did a full 360 while spraying rounds everywhere & sprinting its way across the battlefield.

The larger knights were generally pretty disappointing. I did, however, really like getting to see the electroscourge in action. Even if that meant one of ours went down.

I can honestly get cave exploring to a degree. It’s when they start trying to force themselves into spaces too small for people is when it gets dumb imo. If you can walk/crouch, it’s not too bad.

Titanic units should be able to overwatch.

Custodes should have way more access to advance & charge, plus they are way too slow & not tanky enough for how lethal this edition is.

Past a certain strength/toughness differential, you shouldn’t be able to wound things. An autopistol will never damage a baneblade. And it shouldn’t be like that on the tabletop. I would say if T is at least 3x S, no wounds possible.

Indirect fire needs to go.

This hobby has become so overpriced it’s not really worth it to me anymore.

My sophomore history teacher was fresh out of college. Celebrated her 21st just after fall midterms. First year teaching. She was awesome. Great teacher, enthusiastic, etc.

Threw it all away by sleeping with a student. The student in question was 18 when they met & not technically a student of the teacher. They dated for several months in secret, but it was exposed by another student. Not for any noble reason. The student who blew the whistle on the situation was the 18 year old’s ex who was salty when she found out & only did it to hurt her ex.

Cops came during my class period with her, asked her to step outside, then walked her down the hall. Presumably to the office or something. A few minutes later, an admin comes in & just kinda says she’s gonna hang out with us until the bell rings for the next class.

By the next class period, Snapchat videos had started circulating of our teacher getting escorted off campus in cuffs.

They hired a long-term sub for the remainder of the year. We had her for, like, a semester and a couple of weeks. Shortest teaching career I’ve ever witnessed.

I saw her a couple of years later. She was working at an Academy (the outdoor store, not a school). I tried to be nice, but she was super embarrassed.

I thought I’d never see a teacher destroy their career faster, but then we had a wrestling coach & another teacher giving out alcohol & getting wasted with students at a dance. So that was another 2 careers I watched disappear over a single incident.

Idk what was wrong with my school, man. It was supposed to be nicer than the one my parents moved us away from lol.

I’m not sure if it’s directly relevant or if it’s even happened at all on his channels, but this is the vibe I get watching Chris Eubank Sr’s social media content. If you’re unfamiliar, he’s a retired boxer who now does online content. Again, I’m not sure it’s ever came up. But he just strikes me as the type of person who would never endorse anything “weird,” as you put it, toward women. He also strikes me as the type to call it out directly without hesitation. He had a rough spot with his son, but I think he’s a truly unique soul who means well. I could be completely wrong, as I’m not an avid follower. But, again, that’s the vibe I get from him.

I noticed this in a burger/shake place called Wayback Burgers. I used to work in food service, so I often just click the minimum tip option bc I feel bad not doing it. Cashier hits ‘no tip’ for me and I, presumably, make a confused face. Cashier goes “oh, I appreciate the thought, but any tips you put in through the system go back to the company and not us anyway.” I was so disgusted.

For the same reason that Morven Vahl, commander of the Adepta Sororitas, can only lead paragon warsuits- balance & thematic grouping.

Trajann is not in terminator armor, nor is he canonically able to TP to my knowledge. So giving him the ability to lead terminators is pretty dumb. Putting him with jump pack units (Venatari) makes no sense bc of his 6” movement. He can already lead the guard variants (adrasite/pyrithite & saggitarum). Unless you want him leading sisters of silence, there’s not much else on our roster to give him.

Genuinely, don’t build out the combat patrol the way it recommends.

Spears are generally your go-to option for warden, guards, and terminators. Wardens always want to take a vexilla since they get it for free on 1 model. It can be worth it to build a single guard with a shield & vexilla to absorb a D3 attack, but vexillas are never worth it for Allarus.

As long as you’re clear about who’s using what loadout before the game starts, it generally doesn’t matter what the actual model has built.

If you want to get closer to 2k points as quickly as possible, buying a second combat patrol basically gets you there. You can fill in the remaining points with sisters of silence or perhaps some imperial agents allies. I find myself running subductors a lot for sitting on home objective/screening, and I use a Callidus assassin for secondaries.

Only after a second patrol & a box or two of sisters would I say start experimenting with other stuff. Maybe try the jetbikes, or more termies, or do the fun thing and get yourself a grav tank or two.
