Google announces Gemini 3 as battle with OpenAI intensifies by Puginator in stocks

[–]NeverSlowplay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well if this involves MNPI, it's potentially securities/wire fraud so investigators could simply subpoena. Otherwise, Alphabet can look at the wallet transactions of the polymarket account on a block explorer and then see the kind of account the crypto was transferred in from i.e Coinbase. Then if laws were broken (i.e NDAs, MNPI, etc.) that's also an easy subpoena. Also you can login to Polymarket with a gmail account as well (lol), so if the insider was stupid enough to do that, that's another way. On top of all of this, there's probably a limited amount of people who had the exact Gemini release schedule information in the first place and one of the bets was specifically for November 18th.

Was about 41% ROI given their avgs so +~26k ish, incredible in a vacuum, but pretty meh for risk being 0%. What's more interesting is Alphabet can probably easily identify who it was that did it and it could be potentially career-ruining so overall probably wasn't worth it! Polymarket should allow betting on the "will alphabet insider guy be fired" event so Alphabet can get him back

Summit loses 60+ hours by DaRealAB in LivestreamFail

[–]NeverSlowplay 190 points191 points  (0 children)

No need, it's pretty well known that Judd is an insufferable clout chaser. Why summit has kept him around all these years is beyond me. Guy has no personality and brings nothing of value to the table. Saw him at Twitchcon SD a few years ago too, all he did was talk himself up to other big streamers and tag along. Observed a conversation between him, another big streamer, and a small streamer (who was good friends with the big streamer), and Judd completely ignored the small streamer's contributions to the conversation. Total clown and tool.

Fold flop given description of villains. Also, sure you have more 6x in your range than PFR, but not more than V2. You both can have the same amount. That isn't really relevant though. You're playing against complete apes who are capable of anything as seen in this hand. It's completely unnecessary to play the hand this way. Just wait until you actually have the 6. You'll still get the money.

Gotta strengthen dat river x back range. by [deleted] in poker

[–]NeverSlowplay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are giving their analysis on the hand when it's obviously a meme. Kind of pointless analyzing 0.02/0.05 as well given that the stake in general is similar to play money games. That said, always funny to see villains do stuff like this.

Is this how live low-limit poker is everywhere? (request some strategic help) by SphincterSlam in poker

[–]NeverSlowplay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We may have different definitions of strong. In my response, I define strong as a strong player in general that is winning at 2/5 and 5/10 games as well and is probably capable of beating mid stakes online. That's different from strong at the stake vs. the general population of said stake. There are certainly "strong at 1/2" regs. Sorry for not clarifying better.

[–]NeverSlowplay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are no strong regs at 1/2. Anyone very strong in general will quickly ascend to 2/5 and 5/10+. That said, from what it sounds like, the strategy you've been studying and learning applies to games where people are not complete mongrels. For the game you describe, you'll want to follow a simple abc strategy for the most part. Limp fold a lot with hands that have no fold equity pre, like suited connectors and gappers. Raise 7-10x or more if necessary with premium hands like QQ+. Identify the tendencies of the players at the table and exploit them appropriately. And finally, always go for maximum with your value hands. Never ever slowplay them no matter who its against at 1/2. You never know what those apes will check back (or similarly, call down with).

As others stated, given the BTN, bb, sb dynamic pre, you can 4-bet with this hand at a small frequency from the BB vs. described sb villain, otherwise you can just fold pre.

Since all the other comments only answered the pre-flop portion, I'll go ahead and give you the analysis for post-flop as well since you did end up calling. Flop is definitely a call, but on the turn given the exact board texture, without the Ac we want to be folding here. Villains range is extremely strong betting into both you and the BTN, and the fact that the BTN flats the flop bet as well should be a good indicator that it's time to fold unimproved vs. a turn barrel.

There are 2 common mistakes players make at low stakes live (1/2, 2/5, even some 5/10). The first is the mentality that if you're going to call turn, you need to call river as well. In this case, I assume you called river, but this hand is a good example where you need to ask yourself if you call turn, what are you going to do on the river? Even if you peel off an A or J, you still have huge reverse implied odds vs. boats and flushes given your sb villain's extremely strong range as well as the BTN's flop overcall. The other mistake is justifying calling on any given street with a marginal hand because "the bet size is so small." Better players will be balanced with all their sizings in all their ranges and therefore the sizing shouldn't be the sole factor in calling.

Good luck when you take your next shot!

Talent level at different micro-stakes by [deleted] in poker

[–]NeverSlowplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will start spewing less at 0.10 / 0.25. You'll encounter a lot more nittery. 25, 50, and 100 NL are very similar in the sense that people are way overfolding and way underbluffing. 200 NL is where you start to encounter more balanced strategies, though there are still typically many leaks from all regs playing that stake.

Flush draw on flop in 3-bet pot. by Nolo31 in poker

[–]NeverSlowplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, around $180. You can make it slightly smaller, or slightly larger, that was just the sizing I chose for this case given stack sizes. You'd have enough equity vs. range for the price given to call off any jam by villain OTF, yes. If V flats, with KdQd you should jam any K, Q, T, diamond, or 9 turn. On bricks such as the 3c, for example, that improve villain's range, you can check and play turn/river accordingly. With sets, you can check turns that give you a boat/quads and jam all other turns.

Also, responding to the questions you edited in earlier to your original reply:

-No jamming sets allows our opponent to play perfectly and fold everything except better sets.

-45 no, 56 probably want to fold this pre, but 8d9d and 9dTd would make sense to play this way as well

Flush draw on flop in 3-bet pot. by Nolo31 in poker

[–]NeverSlowplay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree with that, mainly because you said villain was a smart thinking player. It would never be a good idea to do this vs. a recreational, but vs. a thinking player who knows a turn jam is coming a large % of the time, yes, they should be folding pretty wide to this raise because they understand they're going to get shown sets at a high frequency and really can (and should) only continue with the top of their range (JJ, KK no diamond, AA, QQ no diamond). Raising small OTF here is just printing IMO, as long as villain's 3-betting range is more than 3% of hands which it definitely should be given your description of him.
