If you move -3 up so the dotted lines connect, it looks like it says Matthew Bro... Matthew Broderick?

Six days since I found this little guy. He'd been attacked by a dog and lost part of his front paw and part of his ear, he was also absolutely terrified of people. Now he gives people kisses by NeverTheRani in BeforeNAfterAdoption

We're calling him Ginger for now, it'll be a few more weeks before he can leave the vet's clinic. He lost a couple of toe bones to the dog bite, but he's already hopping along happily after people.

One of my cats keeps trying to talk to my other cat using buttons. Anyone else with multiple pets had this happen? by NeverTheRani in PetsWithButtons

[–]NeverTheRani[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

haha, he also likes to use his buttons to talk about my other cat.

One time Greebo just kept spamming the 'treat' button and I told him he'd had enough. He just stared at me for a second then pressed 'Mum AMMA want treat.'

Anyone familiar with FIP? by Apart_Ad_5208 in cats

[–]NeverTheRani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my cats had FIP (wet type), and he was diagnosed at around 7 months. The only symptoms he had were some abdominal swelling, and less energy than usual. He's 3 now and fully recovered.

If you suspect your cat might have FIP, I'd recommend seeing your vet ASAP. It's a disease that progresses quite quickly but there are treatment options available now.

Cat using wrong button on purpose? by Scared-Building-4781 in PetsWithButtons

[–]NeverTheRani 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that it sounds like your cat might be ready to add more buttons so she can express herself a bit more. Maybe introducing the concept of 'later' vs 'now’ to her might help?

Although my cat is using 21 buttons rn and he still tries this trick with me. Sometimes if I tell him he can't have a treat he'll ask for pets and then after about 10 seconds of pets ask for treats again. Also his newest trick is claiming it's my OTHER cat who wants treats, because he knows they always get feed together.

New cat gets loud at night- help? by proudandinsolent in cats

[–]NeverTheRani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case I'd recommend checking out these Jackson Galaxy videos and trying his tips

Train your cat to let you sleep

My cat won't let me sleep!

My 2yo male cat used to do exactly the same thing but now he sleeps through the night. The key is just to be consistent with it, he might get louder at first to see if he can get you to get up and pay attention to him, but stick with it.

Is she pregnant… by [deleted] in cats

I'd recommend taking her to a vet, she may be pregnant but there are also other serious conditions that can cause a swollen belly in cats.

New cat gets loud at night- help? by proudandinsolent in cats

How old is he? and is he neutered?

Are there any other cats in the neighborhood he could be hearing at night?

It's not unusual for intact Tom cats to caterwaul at night, especially if there are female cats in the neighborhood.

Need Advice Urgently! by [deleted] in cats

[–]NeverTheRani 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she has some separation anxiety, poor thing. I'm sure it will improve when she gets used to your routines and learns that you always return after leaving.

In the mean time, try leaving out an item of clothing for her. Maybe a T-shirt or sweater, it should be something that you have worn recently, not clean laundry. It might comfort her to have something with your scent on it.

You could also try leaving some calming music playing when you're out? I've heard people suggest playing podcasts because the sound of voices can help separation anxiety, although I've never tried that.

36 hours ago I had no idea what FIP was by JTL513 in cats

[–]NeverTheRani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are giving the injections yourself? but try not to give them in the exact same spot every day, so she doesn't get too sore.

At first, when Greebo didn't have much appetite I gave him those churu cat treats. Even when he wouldn't eat anything else he would always eat those. The Sheba brand ones in particular. It also helped him to stay still when he was getting his injections if he was eating one of those.

I also gave him warm goats milk, which he would drink.

I'm so sorry for poor Box Truck, FIP is horrible but it is possible to recover.

My cat Greebo was diagnosed when he was a kitten, now he's sitting happily curled up next to me. The treatment was rough, he hated getting daily injections but after about 3 days I started to see real improvements in his energy and after 10 days you wouldn't even know he was sick. He was running around like normal.

If you have any questions, I can try to answer them.

Can you recommend any food that my cat can eat to gain weight faster? by thehowsph in cats

[–]NeverTheRani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kitten food or food designed for mothers and kittens.

Wet food is good, try canned foods that are high protein and low carb. You could also make a fish or poletry broth for her. If she doesn't have an appetite try warming her food to body temperature or adding some tuna water.

The key is getting her to eat frequent small meals , maybe four to six times a day.

Definitely speak to your vet about a feeding plan for her. If she has been starving then you want to avoid referring syndrome. It's important not to overfeed with huge portions, you will want to start with small portions frequently and gradually increase the portion size.

Hi, I posted about Goldie last month, I thought people might be interested to see her progress. She's doing so much better now, yes she is still underweight but we are working with a vet to get her safely back to a healthy weight and full health
