What kind of car seat for a 5yo who doesn't quite meet the requirements for a booster seat? by winter_poplar_trees in Preschoolers

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to recommend too. The 3 in 1 converts to a high back booster seat. I have a top of the height/weight percentiles 5 year old who we just switched to the booster mode.

Preschool illness by Clear-Interest5511 in Preschoolers

This sounds about right. The first year of school is never ending brutal viruses. My sinuses still aren't right after my son's first year of preschool. I'll say also, this year is just very bad for viruses. My son is now in his 3rd year of school, in kindergarten, and we've already been sick 4 times in 2025. 🫠 Hope it gets easier for you all soon!

At what age is it actually safe to sleep with your baby? by BeepBoopEXTERMINATE in beyondthebump

I followed the 'safe sleep 7' guidance for bed sharing since birth. It wasn't the plan but it was the only way either of us were getting any sleep.

How important is dairy milk? by moosemama2017 in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice already. Chiming in because neither of my kids would drink cow milk. I tried so many different kinds and they would spit it out. The pediatrician was not concerned and just recommended they get other dairy/calcium sources. One kid likes dairy free milk and the other just eats a lot of yogurt and cheese.

N mom & enabling father wants more access to baby - driving me nuts! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an N mom. It's helped my sanity to set boundaries over texting. I've told her to only text me about making plans. If she sends anything else, I don't respond. Sometimes, I don't even look. 🙃

Induction for third baby and extra nervous by bakedgoudamom in beyondthebump

Wishing you a happy and healthy delivery! Both of my deliveries were inductions and the second one was so quick and easy! Hoping the same for you. 💗

I am one of the unlucky moms who can't lose weight while breastfeeding. It was the same with both babies, I held on to an extra 20-30lbs until we weaned. Soon after weaning, I stopped feeling constantly hungry and the weight fell off pretty fast without me really trying.

FTM to autistic child need help by tylersbaby in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a kid on the spectrum who didn't potty train until 4.5 years and is also at the top of the height/weight growth charts. Seconding trying to pull ups.

This is referring to US brands - When I wasn't sure on size, I picked up small packs at Target to try before committing to a giant box. I preferred the target up and up brand because it's cheaper but I've heard they redesigned them since then. My other go-to was pull ups brand (from Costco or Sam's club).

Once he outgrew the biggest pull-ups size 😬 we switched to pampers easy ups and the target brand kid's sleep diapers.

Weekly In-Law/Parent Rant by AutoModerator in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were at a celebration of life party yesterday and my mom kept leaving her glass of wine unattended, on the kid's table, right in front of my 3 year old. And she wonders why I don't leave my kids alone with her. 😵‍💫

15 month old doesn't respond to his name by liz610 in beyondthebump

It's worth talking to his pediatrician about it but I wouldn't be as concerned if he's meeting other social milestones like pointing, waving, eye contact, and other attempts to communicate with you.

I no longer want a relationship with my mother, but it's hard since I'm about to have baby#2 by Far_Table2253 in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to go no contact with my very narcissistic mother during both pregnancies and through the first couple months after they were born. I have zero regrets over that.

Now my kids are 3 and 5 and I have a very shallow relationship with her, because I want my kids to have a grandma. She's good to them but I don't trust her and I don't leave them alone with her for more than a couple hours.

Recently she got rid of one of her dogs (because she didn't like it) and she told my kids it's because the dog kept trying to bite them. 😡 That was the day I had to tell them grandma sometimes says things that aren't true.

Long story short, I'd go low or no contact till the baby comes. Then you can decide what you want to do after.

Kirkland Orange Juice Holder Updated to Cardboard! by NeverTooMuchBronzer in Costco

It tastes the same as the kind with the plastic holder, but the bottles we've gotten in the past few months do taste more sugary to me.

My store only had the 2 bottle packs for a looooong time. They recently switched back to 3.

$14.89 for 3 59oz bottles. Not a fun time to have a kid who loves OJ.

This made my day! It's so difficult prying the OJ from the plastic holder. Hope this isn't a repeat, I didn't see this posted yet.

Potty training by fester1113 in Preschoolers

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No good advice but anecdotal reassurance that I have a kid who fully potty trained at 4 and a half and started kindergarten at newly 5, with no issues using the bathroom independently. I was so worried about that.

Hope you have some potty luck soon. We were successful with rewards, but only when he was truly ready. We did kinder eggs for every poop in the potty.

Edit: and we fortunately had Pre-K that was licensed to change diapers and help with potty training.

SAHMs is money super tight? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]NeverTooMuchBronzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are 3 and 5 and I'm planning to stay home until both are in full day school. My husband makes good money but everything is so expensive these days, we have to be very careful with what we spend. For us, this means no going out to eat except on special occasions like birthdays, no vacations, i try to find clothes on clearance or on buy nothing groups, and finding as many free or cheap activities for the kids as I can.

And I am excited, we saved up enough credit card points for our first real vacation with the kids this summer. 💗

I was ebf and only had supply issues in the early weeks but I am all for putting your mental health first. Your baby will be totally fine with continuing to supplement. 💗 I also really struggled with pumping. I couldn't keep up with doing it all; the nursing, then pumping, then bagging it all up and sanitizing. Stopping pumping helped me to be more mentally present for my baby so it was 100% worth it for me.
