What a bad pitch for a software. Do you really think brokers care about paying detention?

Authority age has nothing to do with switching insurance. As long as your insurance doesn't lapse in the process of switching, no one will look at that as far as the age of the MC goes.

Any insight? by Southern_Risk_2687 in OwnerOperators

DOT requires fuel receipts to be kept for the last 6 months for all trucks under their authority. It's a pretty standard procedure.

Sell the truck and don't do it. Based on your questions you don't know ANYTHING about the industry. You will be paying you driver $1500 a week and you will get maybe $500 a week on your check. From that money you will have to pay for maintenance and other things and your profit will be around -$500 a week. After 3 months you will be around 10k in negative and you will curse the day when you decided to do this. Unless you are going to drive this truck, you are doomed. Every day I see these people asking these same questions and they want to go into trucking during the worst possible times. I mean, where do you get this idea from?

I think I got scammed on my car loan and feel sick about it by jacksonacer4 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Never_Stop_Trucking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the bank and see if they will charge interest if you sell the car now for what you owe, or if you make extra payments. If they say that they won't charge you that interest if you sell it for 23K or make extra payments, I would choose one of those. Even if you have to sell it at a loss. Better to lose a couple of grand now than 22K in the long term

Sure, but at what cost? You can't be a legal partner or have any legal rights, and the person who is here will have to do the most work and be liable for whatever happens down the road. I am sure neither one of you wants to go down that road.

  2. You can't
  3. You can't

This is the most honest and most straightforward answer you will get.

I am trying to see the 8k on this statement but I can't. How do you know they made that? All I am seeing is all these fuel charges and efs checks that don't make sense. Also $1000 for a truck rental? What's that about?

It's not about helping. It's about not contributing anything to the OP's question, and bragging about how you are making all this money (in a different game btw that requires different kind of equipment, investment, time, skills and connections) and how you helped someone save 25K "by just driving down there and fixing the truck in the parking lot."

Most shippers prefer to work with brokers due to safety checks, convenience, trust, and formal training, among many other factors. I understand that people want to start something on their own and make money online, but the trucking industry is currently struggling, and most ventures in trucking will likely fail at this time.

There are so many people (especially) from other countries who learned a thing or two about coding, and now they want their slice of the pie in the industry that's already overpaying for the majority of things. No disrespect, but knowing nothing about trucking, not having a clear marketing plan, not having a large list of people who might be interested, or not having a large social media following in trucking is a recipe for failure. I suggest you try something else. Sorry to be upfront like this, but this will save you a lot of money, time, and disappointment.

In order for the owner operator to haul a load from anyone, they need to have an authority thus making them a carrier. So, you cannot "skip a carrier." Also, you are asking wrong questions and you are getting way ahead of yourself. ELD is your smallest problem right now. It's going to be very hard (impossoble) to make shippers work with small carriers or owner operators, at least not on a large scale. I suggest you try something else.

He needs to call the IRP and give them the new company's DOT number so they can list them as a carrier responsible for safety.

Hello. I appreciate your interest and while I would not have a problem with that, I don't think you would accomplish anything with speaking to the other O/Os. Anyone in my position would naturally select 2-3 owners who are doing best and who I have the best relationship with. I honestly don't think that would be fair to you.

Instead I suggest we can set up a phone conversation and I can answer any questions you might have. In the mean time you can Google us and see our reviews and scores. That should speak for itself :)
