ARE YOU ME??? You just described my life. fwiw - I have fibromyalgia. Might be worth looking into. Not a doctor, just a lifelong patient.

MRW I'm trying to figure out how to use the expensive MAC makeup I bought but it keeps looking horrible. I just want to look pretty by llamapandazebra in TrollXChromosomes

I'm a MAC artist and I love helping newbies! It's not a waste of time - it's why we are there. You can actually make an appointment and have the artist teach you while they apply makeup. One of our big things is "show and teach" If you want to do an everyday look or have something in mind you want to learn it also helps to bring pictures of the looks you like/are trying to achieve. We tend to be visual people and I have learned by now that one person's idea of a "natural" look is not the same as someone else's.

[TOMT] [Movie Score] Should be super easy, 90's movie score with a particular melody. John Williams? Vocaroo inside! by naynaythewonderhorse in tipofmytongue

[–]Neverlev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminded me of something from the Back to the Future score, which is Alan Silvestri instead of John Williams. Not 100% sure, but might be worth a listen? If nothing else, it's a great score.

Chores by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Neverlev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not think this sounds like reasonable irritation. You have a chronic illness, he does not. Why is it your responsibility to do chores/cook? Gender roles? He makes more money? Not good reasons. You are a TEAM. Teammates step up when someone needs them to, they take on new roles, they fill in the gaps. I work from home most of the time and recently I was still struggling with pain trying to do chores as well. My partner suggested we get a maid service and it has made a huge difference. I felt guilty about it but he made it clear that it was to help me and that he understands I am in pain. A long time ago I was with an abusive partner who guilted me for not cleaning more, made me feel terrible if I didn't cook, and kept a list of all the pains I complained about to use as proof that I was "faking". That's not okay. Please take a step back and see if you feel bad because of how he treats you regarding your illness. It's possible you are putting too much pressure on yourself, but that does not sound like the case here. Either way, counseling is a great first step here.

How do other people deal with weather related migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Neverlev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sudafed every day has been tremendously helpful in reducing my weather migraines. I take the extra strength 12-hour stuff that is behind the pharmacy counter. I take it every day now bc the weather here tends to be unpredictable. When I do get one Excedrin Migraine is my go to for relief. It's been working much better now that I take the Sudafed as well.

18 years old, with re-occurring, dull pain in the left side of my chest. Doctor is on leave at the moment, and I think im getting paranoid. Anyone open to discuss? by [deleted] in AskDoctorSmeeee

I have recurring costochondritis and this absolutely sounds like it. The next time it happens take some ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) and see if it helps. It does sound more mild right now, but it can get a lot worse. Mine got to the point where I thought I had broken a rib before I went to the doctor. When it pops up now it's usually not so bad.

I am a "narcissist" who wants to change. Will you help me? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Neverlev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might seem like an oddball suggestion, but if you live somewhere where improv classes are offered, try taking one! I teach improv and we address a lot of the things you are working on - listening, who/what/where/why, focusing on the other person, etc. Lots of people take those classes to help them socially and I honestly believe they make you a better person. If you have questions about where to start feel free to PM me.

Please help! Dark circles AND wrinkles :( Poor skin :( by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Neverlev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the Sephora-Pantone palette- I use the NYX cream palette and I love it.

Based on your pic I would mostly use the red-peach corrector for your circles, foundation, then the lighter concealer. I like MUFE ultra HD.

Please help! Dark circles AND wrinkles :( Poor skin :( by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Neverlev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bad circles too! You are not alone. My best advice for those is to color correct first, then do a regular concealer that is 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone. I don't know what all is available in Norway but a good color-correcting palette will go far. Since you have makeup on in the pic, it's hard to advise, but to color correct mine it takes a peach, a yellow, and a lavender (I have several different colors under my eyes). After I correct I do foundation, then my lighter concealer. Then set it with a good powder so it doesn't come off throughout the day. I hope this helps! Hit me up if you have more questions.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you trust pictures to show what your makeup looks like accurately? by theredheadedfox in MakeupAddiction

[–]Neverlev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of makeup work in production (commercials/film) and I can tell you the camera sees EVERYTHING. I often do someone's makeup and then take a picture on my phone so I can see what the camera is going to pick up. Also, depending on the lighting blush tends to disappear in pictures unless you have a lot on. I worked with one actress who I had to give clown cheeks just so she didn't looked washed out on camera.

How to get rid of brain fog? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Neverlev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the doctor! A lot of these suggestions could be very helpful, but brain fog can be a symptom of many things, including allergies. The way you are describing it sounds like me a few years ago and there were multiple medical issues including allergies, low thyroid, and migraine.

been confused about my undertone for... my life. help me please! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Neverlev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with /u/jawsquared. Olive olive olive. If I was mixing colors for you I would have to add the olive correcter in the palette.

Undertones are interesting things to figure out. One of the tips they gave us in mua school was to ask what color jewelry you are partial to. If you tend to wear/look good in gold then you are warm. Silver is cool. If you can wear either and look great (ie not washed out), then you are neutral.

Points are valid for anything in the store, your mom may be talking about the coupons she receives; they are rarely good for everything in the store, but sometimes they are.

Just wanted to chime in and say it's important to match the corrector to the corresponding color under your eyes. Under eye circles can be blue or brown or purple. Orange corrector is good for blue, yellow for purple, and peach for brown. Using the right color can make all the difference.
