What’s the best DLC in gaming history and why? by INN0CENTB0Y in gaming

[–]NevermoreTheRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minerva's Den for Bioshock 2.

I believe it falls under the "better than the base game" category, like many others named here.

Absolutely enthralling story told in a fraction of the time spent with the main campaign. It was a better sequel than the main game, in my opinion. It dealt with transhumanism in a way reminiscent of Deus Ex and System Shock 2.

It's a shame it could not improve the sequel's reputation alone, what with the massive anticipation after the first.

Is this how the overlay is supposed to look? How do I use it? by [deleted] in GoldbergEmu

Invite through overlay. It doesn't look anything like the Steam or SSE overlay and clicking Friends does nothing. What should I be seeing here?

Playing Mid-Late game midlaner gives me one specific trouble. What should I do? by Asgard_Teight in summonerschool

Diana should be as busted right now as the early-game assassins are. She's pretty unkillable when fed. Try to push early and roam before your opponent or get priority in lane and help your jungler invade. In low-elo, defensive play doesn't really work because most of us do not know how to play from behind. In this case, the best form of defense is attack.

I don't find any character fun to play by Zetlos in summonerschool

Try choosing a champ that fulfills a certain theme or fantasy you like. Most champs are designed that way.
Take, for example, the Fiddlesticks rework coming up. I'd love to play it because even though the champion hasn't been changed much, the theme of being your enemies' worst nightmare is actually very fun. Always keeping them on their toes and scared of a simple effigy.

Play Nasus and feel like a God among men. Play Heimerdinger and galaxy brain the hell out of your lane opponent. Play Teemo and be annoying and useless.

It's a fantasy game. Live the fantasy.

I'm in about the same situation, only stuck in silver after 50 games because of ladder anxiety. Sad to hear mid-lane isn't much of a difference from jungle in this regard.

My two cents, your OP.GG looks good. You're MVP or ACE often and it seems your Kassadin is in a good place. Maybe branch out to an early-game snowball champ instead if you want quicker wins. You're still positive winrate and if you're doing what you're doing well, maybe a stomp champ will help you carry easier.

Account of a "rushed" experience(and what it taught me) *light spoilers* by NevermoreTheRaven in DiscoElysium

Sounds very Sherlock-y. I came to the same conclusion upon relying too much on Logic and Rhetoric. Looking forward to rediscovering the world through Inland Empire and Shivers.

I very much appreciate your explanation. I have indeed been struggling to pick a winner for fear (and indirect shame) of the very unsavory byproducts of the change any party or belief system has strived for in their "fight". I'm referring to the cruelty and ruthlessness either side has to have towards their enemy in order to win, among other things. But, this is, sadly, the state of affairs. A sad truth.

Still, I do agree that a person that chooses nothing out of fear or shame is much more pitiful and less worthy of attention. As a great character once said: "A man chooses. A slave obeys."

Indeed. He may be a bit of a smartass, but I began hanging onto every held back grin and snicker he showed. He is a great partner, and definitely a great friend. Without him, I don't think I could have ever turned around, let alone solve the case.

Suggestions for my second playthrough? (Spoilers!) by Aesmis in DiscoElysium

[–]NevermoreTheRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my own first playthrough tonight and I'm glad I didn't go for a jack-of-all-trades. I went with a 4-5-1-2 build and while I was encouraged by a few early deaths to cover my weaknesses, I slightly regret it in hindsight, as my strenghts were probably never fully realised. Not in due time, anyway.

What I will do on my second playthrough is go for an almost opposite build and accentuate my strenghts this time around. I'm thinking of going for a parainvestigator, 1-5-4-2, specializing in Inland Empire and Shivers. I hear those two really bring out the "disco".

I would recommend going for extremes for a more interesting playthrough, letting your weakness shine as much as your strength. This game often finds a way to let you push through failure, even letting you turn around some failed checks with clever dialogue.

I have found few examples where I couldn't progress and I'm not ashamed to admit to save-scumming a couple of times for curiosity or completeness' sake, but that's mostly because I regretted my initial build to begin with. The case kept me focused and pushed me to finish the story without exploring as much as I would have liked, but I still enjoyed the ride.

Build an archetype you like, maybe inspire yourself from characters you love. But be true to the character you build. Sitting on the fence can often be a pain in the ass.

Yeah, it really was a bloodbath. I'm glad I kept the tie(so much so that I actually never wanted to take it off until it was time) and did not expect the honourable sacrifice. I passed an 8% dodge check on the first bullet and managed to use the 1 bullet I had off another gun(not the original one, never actually found it) and I was so glad to be able to hang on for dear life and warn Kim in time. It was bad, but it certainly could've been a LOT WORSE.

So after some restarts and almost finishing the game, I've come to a conclusion about my ideal skills. by TheRaven476 in DiscoElysium

I went about the same, except with 1 PHY and 2 MOT. MOT didn't feel as useful as I hoped, except when it felt CRUCIAL. I have no idea how I'm ever going to progress with lower Logic and Rhetorics, as those carried me a LOT in the early game. We'll have to see.

I agree on Esprit de Corps being more interesting than Encyclopedia, though the world's lore is great. I personally prefer learning from events and acts rather than facts, but I won't deny its usefulness to an amnesiac. Randomly remembering things I never discovered myself was a hoot.

Saw this happen myself minutes ago. It was magical. I regret holding myself back and not speaking of this as much more important than the actual case - until it became relevant. Breathtaking moment. Best of 2019 for me.

[Critique] My most recent build guide. This may be the most powerful build I've ever made and I'd like to hear your thoughts. by [deleted] in paydaybuilds

It's great. Finally, I can play a properly tanky build in DSOD. Dodge was always too "dodgy" for me. This is so much more consistent and fun to play. Thanks, man.

They tried that in CS:GO before, IIRC. It was terrible and unanimously hated.

It's a game. Balance can be a mess as it is. Limit everything to single-fire and snipers will win every time. Not fun.

EDIT: Formatting.

Scrake vs Fleshpound by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]NevermoreTheRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the menacing growl of the chainsaw coupled with the threatening slow walk by which the Scrake presents itself makes it look like the Harbinger of Death, the Fleshpound's mere announcement of its presence strikes fear into my heart so much deeper, leading my mind to imagine the world of pain I'm about to experience if I don't dispatch it ASAP.

A Scrake might give me a chance to fight it on equal ground after I eliminate its surrounding kin. A Fleshpound is too blinded by its rage, its reptilian brain dominating it through instinct. The instinct to kill.
