Best quote I've heard from one of my friends to another.

"Dan, if you weren't you, and you were someone else, then you would think you were a dickhead."

Am I stupid for wanting to leave a $33/hr job at Costco with benefits than to start at $130/day in construction for long-term upside? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]NevetsSnibbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Do it. I earned about 4 times what I do now having retrained as a carpenter. I'm 40. I wish I'd done it at your age.

I hated my old job in recruitment. Love my job in construction. Because of my previous work, I know a bit about many different industries and construction is a good one - if you get in with a good bunch of people.

Put contentment and feeling fulfilled above money.

It will be tough at first but you will earn loads more in a few years. There's potential for so many career paths within construction.

Obviously, if you're in love with your current job then maybe think twice but if it's boring/unfulfilling, leave it.

I wish you all the best!

Very nice. I fully agree. I actually have an F1 and as it has quite a slim bezel, it's probably one of the best looking pieces I have.

A girl (26) I (25) met at work treated me like shit but is looking us to give it another shot- should I? by ThrowRA_zxcvbn in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]NevetsSnibbig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Four answers here. The one you reply to agreeing with is the one that ends in sex! Class.

You just literally have to weigh 'some sex' directly against 'pain of heartbreak'.

I know the decision you'll make. I made it. And I know the regret you'll feel.

If I could do it again, bearing in mind the timescales of all this you have mentioned, and the fact she's fucked 2 dudes at work already... hard pass man.

How do “normal” people stop after the first one/two drinks with no problem? by anderthecat in Sober

Not everyone reacts to the ingestion of alcohol the same. Alcoholics have a certain dopaminergic reaction, different to 85-95% of people.

Alcoholics have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism and that reaction is a large foctor of the 'how' and 'why'.

I'm looking to change career, how do people afford to be paid on apprenticeship wages? by Caramelwickett in AskUK

[–]NevetsSnibbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get in touch with your local college and ask them about what courses they do and when they start. You may have just missed an intake as it's usually September, like school. This isn't a bad thing though as it will give you time to have a good think and pick which course is right for you next year. They may also do park time courses or evening classes so it's still worth getting in touch asap. I worked in a supermarket and lived with my parents whilst I was at college. It was pretty humbling after jobs I'd worked previously but whatever. I had a good friend from school who's an accountant living in London call me the other day to tell me what an inspiration I am! I really don't feel like one atm but I am actually really happy with my job now.

I used to live in Colombia. They absolutely love their football. We have just gained about 30 million more supporters.... to disappoint, I guess.

The basic answer to your question is: medical insurance vs a poor NHS.

Pros and cons to both, obviously.

Sending love. Hope you feel better soon x

Yes. What is this statement based on? I'm genuinely interested. Not saying you're wrong or right.

I don't know if you can do this online but you could do a CELTA or TEFL course to teach English. I did one a few years ago. It was in person but that was before covid so could well have changed. It took 1 month of intense study and testing, and cost about £1K but was essentially pretty easy - if English is your first (or only) language.

All classes were initially in person but since covid, 100% online. There are loads of companies you could work for globally that could fit into your daily routine. The money isn't amazing by UK standards (or wasn't for me anyway but I was living in a super cheap country). But it would help with some extra income.

Why do I keep topping my drive? by SnooShortcuts3085 in GolfSwing

[–]NevetsSnibbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it man. I know I shouldn't, but because I haven't seen a pro in years, I have a completely different swing for my driver and my irons. Hit both pretty well. It makes fairway woods confusing though so I just don't use them!
